The Plot and the Gameplay

Initially, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege was supposed to be a completely different game. In the course of the development, however, the gameplay model has changed. Originally, the game was to offer an extensive single-player campaign in which the player would face a fictitious terrorist organization named Patriot. The final version of the game was deprived of this large-scale single-player campaign. Instead, there is a multiplayer mode that offers completely new possibilities. First of all, the game makes an effort to force the players to cooperate and work together during tactical encounters. There is no dynamic movement onward which is characteristic of other popular shooters. Your first decisions have to be made at the start of the mission when it is necessary to choose one of the available characters. Each of them has its own specialization and supports the team in a specific way.

The Mechanisms of the Game

The detailed character system and the ability to strengthen and barricade your positions will satisfy the people who enjoy tactical shooters. In the game, you find a dozen or so characters, such as Castle who builds fortifications, Ash who can pry any door open, Thermit who’s keen on destroying barricades or Smoke, who can poison opponents.

There are two game modes to choose from. The first is a cooperation mode in which, together with your friends, you try to defeat a team of terrorists controlled by artificial intelligence. In the second mode, both teams are controlled by the players and both are anti-terrorist units. The difference is that one of them is a defending team while the other is the attacking one. The locations are relatively small, which has a good effect on the pace of the action. There is no way you can hide from your enemy for any longer period of time.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege: the Graphics and the Technical Aspects

The game runs on the proprietary Ubisoft studio engine, called AnvilNext, which also drives other productions of this developer. The graphics are amazing, and the game is well-optimized. Also, the system of building damage deserves attention. Many of their elements can be demolished and used as an element of surprise for the opponent.
