The Story

The Fractured But Whole, once again takes you to the cartoon world. While the first part ridiculed the fantasy worlds and the rules that governed these universes, the second part’s target are the superhero comic books. The setting of the game is the eponymic title town, and during the game, you once again play the character that everyone simply calls the New Kid. Our companions belong to the Cartman band. This time on your side there will be such heroes as Human Kite, Mosquito or Fastpass. Your task will once again be to face the sinister Professor Chaos, and in the meantime, you will be fighting with the competitive groups of heroes.

The Game Mechanics

At the heart of the game, there are the same rules that were implemented in the first part of the game. The Stick of Truth was so well received that basically there was no point in making radical changes in the mechanics of the game. You watch the game from the side. In The Fractured but Whole, you can move around the area of South Park, performing role-playing missions and side quests.

The fighting is just like in the original. As in the case of classic RPG games, it is turn-based. Of course, the game has undergone some slight changes. A new system of character development has been introduced, and the fight mechanics have undergone cosmetic changes. The combats maps now also have added objects which can be used as shields.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole: the Graphics and the Technical Aspects

The graphics and sound correspond well to those from the animated television series. The Fractured But Whole was based on the proprietary Ubisoft engine called Snowdrop. This allowed to achieve the looks of the cartoon prototype and at the same time obtain a satisfactory number of 60 frames per second. For the fans, the good news is that the voiceovers of the cartoon characters are done by the same actors.
