The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Who doesn’t love Winnie the Pooh? The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was first released in 1977 and would be accompanied by The Littlest Horse Thieves as a special double feature. One of the most interesting things about this movie is that it has had a ton of re-releases. I would wager that we would be close to 10 times this has been released on various formats up until the most recent Blu-Ray release in 2013!

The Movie Review

Instead of being a full movie, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an anthology-type film. This features three classic Winnie the Pooh shorts, Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too. All three of these are classics from the Disney vault.

While I like all three of these stories, the one that always springs to mind when I think of this is Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree as the visual of him up that tree dealing with the bees is just so iconic. To be fair, all three stories are good in their own way and they are just super cute.

Disney did not just splice the three of these together and call it a day. They made some extra little bits of story to somewhat link the tales together and they also added an ending sequence too. So, while all three stories are their own contained thing, this works as a nice set of classic Winnie the Pooh stories and none of them feel like they are out of place.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Trailer

Now, I want to go back to when I was talking about this movie having a bunch of re-releases! You see a few years later, Disney would make another Winnie the Pooh short, Winnie the Pooh, and a Day for Eeyore. I have heard some stories that this was added to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and released in some theatres in the 80s, but I cannot confirm that. I can confirm that this fourth short has been added to some of the DVD releases though.

If you are looking to add The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to your collection, I would 100 percent make sure that you are getting one of the releases that has that fourth story as it is a lot of fun. Fun is probably the best way to describe this movie, it is classic Disney at their best and this style of Winnie the Pooh would serve as the basis for pretty much everything that would follow, even what we have now!

The animation here is great, it has some lovely songs and I feel that it holds up very well to this day. Now, if I am being honest, I do prefer the trilogy of Winnie the Pooh movies that came out in the 00s starting with The Tigger Movie. However, these are still classic Winnie the Pooh stories and if you are a Disney fan, you 100 percent need a copy of this in your collection!
