Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning is a free downloadable 3D, adventure/horror game that allows you the opportunity to both play a game and test your knowledge a little bit at the same time. Developed for the PC by Micah McGonigal, the game was originally released on the 31st March 2018 and is continually being updated. Baldi’s Basics is all about learning and surviving the horrors that await within the school, ran by this man named Baldi.

The Game Review
So what’ the deal, exactly?
The story for Baldi’s Basics is rather bizarre, as it starts off like your average kids’ education game. You must go around, answering questions and doing your very best to get them right.
But now it gets better.
Fail to get the answers right and Baldi will start to come for you, and the reason that’s so terrifying is the fact that this isn’t your normal school. You’re trapped inside and can only escape once collecting all of the available notebooks to escape the clutches of Baldi, a man who only wants you to learn a few lessons – just in a rather horrifying way.
In fact, collecting the seven notebooks is a bit similar to the experience of getting the eight pages in the famous free Slender game.
The gameplay is set in a 1st person perspective, where you must roam around the halls of this school, looking for different rooms and areas to go into, all in search of these seven notebooks. Once you come up to each notebook, you are expected to answer all three of its questions correctly before you can pick it up.
Failing to do so will anger Baldi and cause him to become even faster, as during all of this time Baldi is out to catch you and end your run completely. As you explore the school, you will find many different obstacles and items that you can interact with, some of which can be acquired and used in certain situations to get out of a bad situation.
Throughout the school, there will be a number of different obstacles that you’re going to need to use a bit of thinking to get past, such as the bully. By standing next to the bully while the Principal roams the halls, he will call out the bully for bullying and put him into detention, getting him out of your way. Once you’ve finally managed to collect all seven notebooks successfully, you must make your way to the exit and leave the school for good, leaving Baldi in his tracks. For people that wish to play the game for a lot longer, there is an endless mode that will effectively let you keep playing until you’re eventually caught.
One of the most glaring comparisons for this game has got to be the Slenderman series of games, as they use the same mechanic of being chased by something you physically can’t stop. Not only that, but the core gameplay of picking up several different items and making it to the exit is something these two games clearly have in common with one another.
Anyone that’s on the lookout for a very weird but wonderful horror game, then Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning is for you. The game isn’t quite finished yet, but the main foundation is there and it’s slowly learning more and more from what the original Slenderman games brought to the table a few years prior.
