While Activision may have run the Guitar Hero franchise into the ground, all is not lost! That is because Clone Hero is the ultimate way for you to rock out to your favorite Guitar Hero songs on your PC. This is free to play and it has one of the most awesome communities of any game!

The Game Review
If you have ever played Guitar Hero before, you should know what to expect with Clone Hero. You select a song and then just press the buttons in time to the song and the colors on the screen. It is the kind of thing that sounds incredibly simple, but there is a real challenge to this.
Clone Hero is compatible with all Guitar Hero Bluetooth controllers and there is support for drums coming soon. I have been playing this with my guitar from Guitar Hero 3 and Guitar Hero Aerosmith and have had zero problems. Anything that you can do in a Guitar Hero in terms of playing the songs such as activating stat power, solos, and so on can be done here.
What I love about Clone Hero is that you can have every song from any Guitar Hero at your fingertips. This means you do not have to keep swapping out discs when you want to play a certain set of songs. You are free to create your very own setlist and that is pretty damn awesome.
While having the whole Guitar Hero song library at your fingertips is great, Clone Hero has more in store for you. Remember me praising the community this game has? Well, the reason for that is people can add their own songs and note charts so, in theory, this game has a never-ending set of songs for you to play.
If there is a band or artist you like, chances are someone has made one of their songs or a whole album playable in Clone Hero! Adding in new songs could not be any easier, it is pretty much a drag and drop system and there is a very active discord group for this that is very friendly and always willing to help people new to the game.
The presentation of Clone Hero more than gets the job done. The UI is very easy to navigate and when you are playing, you have all kinds of stuff going on in the background. It will even display the song lyrics at the top of the screen. However, if you can take your eyes off the action to read the song lyrics you are a better player than me!
There is no career mode to play through here. Instead, you are always trying to beat your high scores or play against people in online cop-op. While at the moment only guitars are supported there has been talk for a while that they are working on making drums playable too.
I loved the Guitar Hero series back in the day and this is the best way that you can experience it now. I am sure most gamers have at least one Guitar Hero guitar sitting around and this is a great way to make use of it. You can play for fun or you can take it seriously and try to get the highest score possible!
