The Story
As a MOBA the game is obviously focused on network play. Therefore, the title doesn’t have a too convoluted story. The game takes place after an unspecified apocalypse, which has caused complete destruction and put an end to human civilization. Only a handful of survivors now competes for the rest of the resources. They contend for them using modified vehicles, which have a wide variety of arms and strong armor.
Heavy Metal Machines Mechanics
The gist of the game is the fight between two teams of four people. The action in the game is observed from the bird’s eye view. On both sides of the map, there are bases. The game objective is to deliver a bomb to the opponent’s base (otherwise known as their command center). There is only one explosive available in the game, so the players fight to gain control of the bomb. This very much resembles fighting for ball control during a soccer game.
The players can choose from a number of characters. Each of the characters comes with their own vehicle, which is equipped with a large set of different features. They can be treated as special skills of the characters we encounter in typical Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games. The game mechanics are strongly focused on team members cooperation. The player can fulfill three roles:
- Transporter – focuses on transporting the bomb to the opponent’s base,
- Interceptor – concentrates on capturing the bomb from the enemies or preventing them from getting it,
- Support – typical healer – helps team players to deliver the bomb, heals them and makes life difficult for the enemies. Such assistance to for the allied units includes interfering with the work of the rivals and repairing allied units.
