Starring the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, Am I Racist? Is one of the most fun experiences I have had in a movie theatre this year! I was not going to bother seeing this one, but I ended up going on my own as I was in town and had nothing else to do. The theatre was not all that busy, but my god, what an experience this was. The laughter in the theatre was so contagious and I am sure we were all laughing at the exact same time.

The Movie Review
A Blend of Comedy and Reflection
Am I Racist? Is a documentary/comedy and I would say that something like Borat is the best comparison. While I was laughing a great deal during the movie, it is also a movie that makes you think and makes you face some pretty uncomfortable stuff that is happening in the world right now.
Matt Walsh plays an extreme version of Matt Walsh. The idea is that Matt Walsh is on a quest to deep into the DEI world, DEI being diversity, equity, and inclusion. We follow him on his journey as he does things like try to get the George Washington Monument changed to the George Floyd Monument! The crazy thing is the people who he talks to that go along with a lot of the stuff.
Hilarious and Thought-Provoking Scenes
There is one part where he is running this workshop/seminar and he asks the people there to point at who they think is the most racist person in the room. I swear the laughter that erupted from the theatre had to have been heard out in the lobby. There are many crazy scenes like this that will have you in stitches at first, but then you actually start to think about the fact that these are real people who are saying these things and it is kind of crazy and eye opening.
A Lighthearted Conclusion
The movie builds towards that workshop and Matt has an uncle, Frank. Matt lambasts Frank for a racist joke he made decades ago and this whole scene is just so funny. However, it is resolved and I feel that the movie ends on a pretty fun and upbeat note. The whole theatre as I was walking out were all smiles and giggles and I cannot remember the last movie that had an effect on everyone as much.
Balancing Humor and Offense
The thing with a movie like this is that it is going to offend some people and make others laugh and then make other people really think. It takes a great deal to offend me and I did not find anything in the movie to be super offensive. I get what it was, but at the same time, I could easily see why it may be a bit much for some people.
My theatre only had a very limited screening of Am I Racist? I have a feeling that this is going to hit streaming very soon, it already has depending on where you live in the world. I highly recommend that you give this one a watch. The trailer for this is actually really good, I would say that if you watch the trailer, you will know for sure if this is the kind of humor that is for you or if it is not.
