“It has pacing issues, MODOK is not great, the ships are too Star Warsy” those are just a few of the main “complaints” I heard about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania before I saw it. I have to say right off the bat, ignore the negative reviews as I had a ton of fun with this movie. I had seen much of the mixed reception it was getting so I went in a little unsure of what to expect. However, once the movie finished, I was dumbfounded as to the complaints people had!

The Movie Review
I do have to say that it is awesome how a character like Ant-Man has managed to get three solo movies. Once again Paul Rudd as Ant-Man/ Scott Lange is as charming as ever and he is joined by The Wasp/Hope, his daughter Cassie and Hank, and Janet Pym. The whole “pacing issues” thing is just complete garbage, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a fast-paced movie and one that just zooms by.
Cassie has been working in secret with Hank to try and map the Quantum Realm. This makes Janet furious and scared as there is a great deal she held back about her time in the Quantum Realm. I have to say, I thought it was great how we got to see and find out about what Janet went through in the Quantum Realm.
In no time at all, all five of them are sucked into the Quantum Realm! The Quantum Realm is one of the most awesome locations in the MCU. Once the movie finished, I said to my wife it is kind of crazy how “real” the first Iron Man movie was in comparison to what we now have in the MCU. It is a place where rules do not apply and it let the filmmakers get very creative.
There is a bit of a civil war going on down here with Kang the Conqueror being trapped in the Quantum Realm and looking for a way out. I do not want to go into spoilers here, but Kang is one of the most awesome characters we have had introduced in the MCU for quite some time.
While we already saw a bit of Kang in Loki, Johnathon Majors really gets to cut loose here. We get to see why Kang is going to be such a threat in the MCU and why he is the next big bad. No spoilers here, but the movie does a great job of setting up this next phase of the MCU.
The one area of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania I was a little “worried” or not sure of was MODOK. I am a big fan of MODOK and had been hoping to see him in live action form for some time. However, the more I read about the way he was portrayed here, the more concerned I became. Well, while his origin is different from the original character, I liked what they did with MODOK here and found him to be a lot of fun.
I would say that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is probably best described as a sci-fi action adventure movie and there were a few parts where I do see the Star Wars comparisons that people are making. However, we also have a movie that is about a dad willing to do anything to protect his daughter and a movie that is about family and looking out for each other. The family dynamic between these five characters is fantastic and they are one of the best groups in the MCU!
It has been around 48 hours or so since I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the more I think about it, the more I do not get the mixed reaction! I loved this movie, it was a ton of fun and I plan on going to see it again! It sets up the next big bad for the MCU, but it also has great characters, and awesome action scenes and the Quantum Realm is one of the most interesting locations we have seen in the MCU so far!
