Blink Twice was one of those movies that I was excited to see as soon as I saw the first trailer. This is the directorial debut of Zoey Kravitz and she also had a hand in writing the script as well. What a debut this is! She clearly has an eye for cool as this movie looks fantastic and gives you a real glimpse into the life of the rich and powerful.

The Movie Review
Not only is the work behind the camera fantastic. Blink Twice has one of the best casts of any movie that I have seen this year. Channing Tatum plays the role of a tech mogul who is disgustingly rich. He plays the part with a ton of charm, but as the movie progresses his façade starts to drop and you realize that all is not what it seems with him.
The real star of Blink Twice is Naomi Ackie who is fantastic in everything I have seen her in. Ackie plays the role of Frida who is working at a gig for this tech mogul and he invites her to his private island for fun in the sun. She gets there and at first, is all in on this rich guy paradise and the various celebrities and other rich people who are there.
A Thrilling Twist on the Island
However, things take a drastic turn. Frida starts to question things and before long she has to use all her wits in order to survive what is really going on, on this island. It is honestly great stuff that keeps you guessing. I also loved the way that the movie had some great humor in it, but when things got uncomfortable, man did they get uncomfortable. It is a very sleek and stylish thriller that keeps you gripped.
Stellar Supporting Cast
It is not just Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum that make this such a great movie. The supporting cast is great too, Adria Arjona really shines during the second half, but we also have the likes of Geena Davis, Alia Shawkat who I am a huge fan of, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osment, and Kyle MacLachlan. Young Levon Hawke also is in the movie, who is the son of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.
Final Thoughts on Blink Twice
I had such a great time watching this movie. Crazy, sexy cool is not just the name of an iconic 90s album by TLC, it is also the best way to describe Blink Twice! It is the kind of movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, will make you laugh one minute, and then freak you out the next. You never know for sure until the very end where it is all going and even when it ended, I started to think about things. This is a movie that is a lot of fun to discuss with other people who have seen it.
Limited Theatrical Run
Blink Twice is a movie that I hope does really well. At my theatre, this has only been on a couple of times per day since it was released so I cannot see the theatrical run being all that long. I feel that they released this at a kind of rough time as it came out in between some big hitters such as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but my theatre was still dedicated a few screens to stuff like Deadpool & Wolverine and Despicable Me 4. If you can though, I recommend seeing this one in the theatre as it is a great experience.
