Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers (2022 film)

You know I think that Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is my favorite of all the Disney Plus original movies so far! Disney did an awesome job with their Ducktales reboot a few years back, so I was excited to see what they would do with Rescue Rangers. The result is a tremendous movie packed with fan service, but also something those who know nothing about the classic show can have a lot of fun with.

The Movie Review

The way the movie starts is pretty neat. We get to see Chip and Dale while they were at school and how they first met and became friends. The two of them make a great double act and are always entertaining the kids at school. This leads them to move to LA to try and make it big.

After a few basic gigs, they get the offer of a lifetime, they get to be in their own show called, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. The way the movie works is that Chip ‘N Dale are “real” characters and they were just acting in the classic 80s and 90s show. Dale decides he wants to go solo and see if he can be taken seriously and this leads to the end of the Rescue Rangers.

The movie then jumps forward in time, Dale is still trying to hang onto past glories and attends fan conventions, Chip is now working a regular 9-5 job and just living his life. The two are very estranged, but a phone call from one Monterey Jack changes everything. It brings Chip and Dale back together and they end up having to go on a real-life Rescue Rangers-style mission.

Make no mistake about it, Chip and Dale are the stars of this movie. However, I love the way that the rest of the team, Monterey Jack, Gadget, and Zipper all get a moment to shine. We also get to find out what these characters have been up to in the days since Rescue Rangers was canceled.

The whole movie is just a ton of fun and the world it is set in has both human and cartoon characters living together. It is kind of like Rodger Rabbit, but Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers plays it more straight and it works very well. There are so many characters that pop up in the background that it is the kind of movie I am sure I will want to watch multiple times.

I do not want to spoil who the villain of the movie is, but it is hilarious! Speaking of hilarious, the vocal talent here is amazing. John Mulaney as Chip and Andy Samberg as Dale get most of the attention, but I thought that JK Simmons as Captain Putty was fantastic. Seth Rogan, Eric Bana, and Will Arnet are a few of the other notable talents in this movie.

I had a fantastic time with Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. This is a movie that is just so much fun and while it is amazing if you grew up watching the original show. I also think that younger kids who may not know anything about the Rescue Rangers are going to have a great time with this movie as well. If you have Disney Plus, this is a must-watch!
