I am a huge Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) fan; he is just such a likable guy, but for whatever reason, Friendship completely snuck past me. I only found out about this movie as I got such a kick out of Paul Rudd being in the ad for the Nintendo Switch 2, when I looked to see what he had done recently, Friendship came up. This was such a fun movie, a real hidden gem, and one of the best “going in blind” movies I have seen in quite some time.

Friendship was released on 2024 Toronto International Film Festival September 8, 2024 and on May 9, 2025 in the cinemas United States. The Unexpected Joy of Discovering Friendship
I am a huge Paul Rudd fan; he is just such a likable guy, but for whatever reason, Friendship completely snuck past me. I only found out about this movie as I got such a kick out of Paul Rudd being in the ad for the Nintendo Switch 2, when I looked to see what he had done recently, Friendship came up. This was such a fun movie, a real hidden gem, and one of the best “going in blind” movies I have seen in quite some time.
Craig’s Cringe Comedy Is Unforgettable
Austin tries to distance himself from Craig, but Craig obsesses over Austin and goes to extreme lengths in order to spend time with him. He also has a disastrous “date” with his wife as well. Just when you think things could not get any worse, Craig somehow manages to make things even crazier.
What Makes Friendship So Effective
The thing that Friendship does very, very well is make you cringe for Craig. Even if you are not socially awkward yourself, the movie truly does put you into Craig’s shoes, and while this is pretty hilarious, the cringe you feel is very real. I just wanted to shout at Craig to stop what he was doing! You can tell that deep down, there is a decent guy here, but he just has no idea how to properly act with people. To me, it seemed like they teased the possibility of a sequel here, which I would love to see.
Tim Robinson Steals the Show in Friendship
I have heard some people say that Paul Rudd is one of those actors who plays the same role in most of the stuff he is in, and that is hard to argue with, to be honest, but that is one of the things I like about him. However, while it may have been Paul Rudd that brought me to Friendship, it was 100 percent Tim Robinson who stole the show here. As I write this, we are in June 2025, and I cannot think of a more memorable character I have seen in a movie this year than poor Craig here! If you are in the mood for a wacky and dark comedy, 100 percent make an effort to watch this!
