Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is the third time that the series has made the jump to the big screen. I actually real/ly enjoyed Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie and thought that Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory/Premature Death was ok. So, as Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution was being shown at my theatre, I decided to go and check it out and…. This was just ok, easily my least favorite of the three that I have seen first.
Where to Watch Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution was released on 5 December 2025. As of the time of writing is not available for streaming.
The Movie Review
Before I dive into the movie, we have to talk about what this actually is. Like the previous movie, this is episodes of the anime stitched together to make a movie. Now, to be fair, this is something that has happened before, and it has worked, so I am not hating on this for that. However, this one here feels like a little bit of a cash grab.
What Exactly Is Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution?
So what exactly is this? We basically have a recap of the events of the end of season two and then the first two episodes of season three. What the ratio of new content to old content here is, I could not say for sure. However, it does feel like they are just trying to make a few bucks out of the hardcore fans who cannot wait for the new season to air, as this came out before season 3 started.
An Intriguing Plot with Mixed Execution
To be fair, the premise of the plot is pretty cool. It is Halloween, and a strange veil has appeared over Shibuya, causing chaos and curses and leaving our heroes as the only ones to try and figure out what is going on. I liked the mystery aspect of this, and the whole curse thing was something that I felt was very intriguing.
A Disconnected Experience for Newcomers
Yet, I felt pretty lost while watching this. The recap sections of the movie were pretty much fight scenes, and I am sure if you are familiar with the show, these may have been cool to see on the big screen. However, for me, I felt like I was missing some stuff. I would have much rather they just fleshed out the whole curse over Shibuya thing, than having the recap stuff. But then I remembered, this is not technically a movie; it is part of a series that has been edited together to resemble a movie.
Who Is the Audience for This Movie?
Granted, you could say that, as my only exposure to Jujutsu Kaisen is the movies, I am probably not the target audience. Yet, I feel if you are going to put something into theatres, it is up to you to make it make sense for those who may be new and just seeing this because they thought the poster or trailer looked cool. If anyone has this as their first taste of Jujutsu Kaisen, I am not sure they would be all that interested in watching the show.
Visuals and Action Sequences
Speaking of looking cool, like the previous movie, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution looks awesome, it is bright and vibrant, but it also has some really dark and messed up stuff too, epic fight scenes that are brutal and violent, and were very exciting. Yet, you take away the flash, and I found myself not really caring all that much about anything that was happening here.
Final Thoughts on Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution
After liking the previous movies, I thought that after watching Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, this would be the push I needed to fully get invested in the series. Instead, it is actually the opposite; it kind of turned me off and made me not as interested in getting fully into this series. If they do another one of these, it would have to be something pretty special to get me into the theatre to see it.
