Even though as I write this, Moonage Daydream is a few weeks away from a home release, a few theatres around me still are showing it! Moonage Daydream is brought to us by Brett Morgan and is about the life of David Bowie. David Bowie is one of the most iconic artists of all time and this is one of the best music documentaries I have ever seen.

The Movie Review
As much as I enjoyed Moonage Daydream it is the kind of thing that is hard to describe. It is so unique and so mesmerizing that you truly have to see this for yourself to understand why it is so special. Basically, what we have here with this documentary is the story of David Bowie’s career.
What is so special about a documentary about someone’s career is what I am sure a few of you are saying right now. However, Brett Morgan clearly understood what made David Bowie such an icon for so many people and the way the documentary is presented is just pure Bowie.
To start with, this was made with full cooperation and approval from David Bowie’s estate. His estate did more than just agree to let him make this documentary/movie. David Bowie’s estate gave the filmmaker full access to his archives which is the first time this has been done.
As a result, there is a lot of footage here that has never seen the light of day before. This is sure to make hardcore Bowie fans even more interested. From personal footage to concert footage, what is here is just phenomenal, but it is the way that Morgan presents it that makes it such a mesmerizing ride for us to be on.
It goes without saying that Bowie’s music plays a huge part in making this so captivating. The whole thing from start to end has this kind of psychedelic thing to it that is something I loved. The way that the documentary is narrated by footage that they have put together from various David Bowie content over the years is incredibly clever. You would swear that he had to have recorded this specifically for this film as it is done so well.
Anyone that is a fan of David Bowie or who has an interest in him knows that he was a very spiritual man. I loved how the movie made it a real point to show what a spiritual and special man he was as well as a talented musician, performer, and actor. This truly is one of the best musician documentaries of all time!
As a David Bowie fan, my opinion on this may seem biased, but this is one of the few things released in 2022 that I have not read a negative thing about. Do you have to be a David Bowie fan to enjoy this? I guess in a way you do. Yet, even if you have just heard of David Bowie and know very little about him, the way this is presented is so well done, it is impossible not to be captivated and entertained by this.
- No other Bowie documentary comes close to this
- This is legit one of the best music documentaries I have ever seen
- It features a lot of unseen footage
- The way this is presented makes you never want to take your eyes off the screen
- The bigger the Bowie fan you are, the more you will get out of this
- For some reason, the 4K release is not being released until 2023, so you may want to hold off getting that Blu-Ray at the end of 2022!
