The Penguins of Madagascar is another DreamWorks movie that appeals to both adults and kids. It is part of the very popular Madagascar series that has three main movies, this spin-off, an animated TB series as well as a whole bunch of merch.

The Movie Review
The Penguins of Madagascar is set after the events of the third Madagascar movie. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private are one of the best parts of the Madagascar series and I would bet if you were to ask people their thoughts on the Madagascar franchise they would smile and tell you about the Penguins before any of the “main” characters.
What I love about The Penguins of Madagascar is at the very start of the movie we get a little bit of a prequel of what happened before we met these guys in the zoo in the first movie. We see how Skipper, Kowalski, Rico go all out to save an egg, an egg which hatches to become the newest member of their army, Private. It is a short scene, but one of the more memorable ones from the movie.
One thing that is really neat about the movie is that while it, of course, has a lot of laughs it is actually more of a spy and espionage movie than anything else. This is what the Penguins were all about in the movie and their animated series, but the movie really goes all out and it has a little bit of Bond, Bourne and Hunt thrown in which is a lot of fun.
Without giving away to much of the plot, the world is in real danger and the Penguins are called into action by a secret organization to try and stop it. There is danger, deceit, betrayal and a whole lot of awesome jokes that I am sure must fly right over kids heads, but the adults will get a chuckle out of.
While the Penguins are great and their own elite team (well elite in their own way) of spies and soldiers. They come across another team that is a lot of fun. These guys are called The North Wind. A seal, an owl, a polar bear and best of all their leader a wolf called….. Classified. Well, that is not his name, but due to a mix up, that is what Skipper thinks that is what his name is.
The movie goes to all kinds of exotic locations and I think this helps keep the movie at a brisk pace. It also gives plenty of chances for laughs as let’s face it the Penguins talk a good game, but they do not know what is going on. Which is proven when they think that the Sahara is Ireland!
I think that The Penguins of Madagascar is a fun time. It did not exactly set the box office on fire, but if you like the other films in the series I do think that you would like this. I feel that the movie could have done a lot better had the movie came out before the series. By the time the movie came out the animated series had been on the air for half a decade!
