Peter Rabbit is a family-comedy animated film starring James Corden, Rose Byrne, and Domhnall Gleeson. Released just recently in 2018 by Columbia Pictures, the movie is based on the novel The Tale of Peter Rabbit written by Beatrix Potter. Much like the novel, the film also follows the story of a rabbit named Peter who, along with his siblings, is always trying to sneak into Mr. McGregor’s garden to steal vegetables from him. After his untimely demise, the new owner, Thomas McGregor, takes over the house and plans to get rid of Peter and his family once and for all. The film mostly revolves around Thomas and Peter as they battle out each other in different encounters hoping that they can force one another to leave the house permanently.

The Film Review
Peter Rabbit starts off with Peter and his sisters stealing vegetables from Mr. McGregor’s garden through great coordination. Through a judgment of error by Peter, he gets caught by Mr. McGregor but is fortunate enough to get away as Mr. McGregor falls to the ground due to a sudden heart attack which leads to his untimely death. The animals come over to the house to celebrate their victory but this is cut short as soon as the new owner, Thomas, sets foot in the house in the middle of the night. Thomas, a young, enthusiastic neat-freak makes it his mission to get rid of all the animals out of his house, so he can sell it for a good price. His initial plans change after developing feelings for Bea, a young and aspiring artist who, much to Thomas’ surprise, loves Peter and all the other animals in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Peter, out of jealousy, comes up with a bunch of plans to keep Thomas away from Bea as much as possible by hilariously setting up traps and tricking Thomas over and over again to make Bea believe that he is out of his mind. Thomas resists and tries to counter Peter’s plans by trying to exterminate him and his family completely through planting explosives in Peter’s house under the tree. After a series of encounters between the two, Peter finally succeeds in his plan to drive Thomas away as he detonates the explosives set up by him which destroys Bea’s house.
Soon after Thomas moves back to the main city, Bea also plans to leave unwillingly as her home gets destroyed, and at that very moment, Peter realizes his mistake and plans to make things right again for all of them. Peter travels to the city in hopes to bring back Thomas so he can stop Bea from leaving. After a messy encounter once again between the two, Peter manages to convince Thomas to move and win back Bea’s heart as he assures him that he will admit to his mistake. Thomas agrees, and both make it back just in the nick of time to stop Bea from leaving in the train where they patch up and end up moving back together in London with the rabbits.
