Spider-Man: No Way Home

I think the last time I was as hyped for a movie as I was this one was Avengers: Endgame. My expectations for Spider-Man: No Way Home were ridiculously high, but it somehow surpassed them. This is not just one of my favorite Spider-Man movies, MCU movies, or general comic book movies, it is one of my favorite movies of all time!

The Movie Review

With the amount of hype behind the movie, I would wager the only people who have not heard bout the plot of this movie are Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny! I am not going to give away spoilers in my review today as it is a movie you have to see for yourself. I want to give you the basics of what is going down in the story.

Basically, Peter Parker’s life is ruined now that everyone knows he is Spider-Man. Worst of all, the lives of Ned, MJ, and his Aunt May are also being impacted by Mysterio’s reveal.  J Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle, many people in New York have turned against Spider-Man which is making Peter and his friends’ lives even more difficult.

Peter has the great idea to go to Dr. Strange and see if he can do some kind of spell to make people forget that he is Spider-Man. Well, Dr. Strange agrees, but something goes wrong and villains from other universes start to come through. I will not go into any more detail than that in regards to the plot, the less you know the more amazing this movie will be for you.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is an absolute thrill ride from start to end. This movie moves along at a blistering pace and the action is great, I would argue one of the best in the MCU. This movie also has a lot of laughs in it too as well as some sorrow and heartbreak too.

In this movie, we really do get to see Spider-Man be a hero. However, I loved how we also got to see how Peter Parker as a person has grown too. It is very exciting to think about what will come from the next Spider-Man movie or whatever movie he makes an appearance in next.

From the trailers, it is no secret that we have villains from three different Spider-Man franchises in this movie. This could have been a mess, but I would argue the development of the villains is done better here than in their own movies. My personal favorite was Willem Defoe as The Green Goblin/Norman Osborne.

I thought that he was great in the first Spider-Man movie, but seeing him here was something else. Norman switching between being Norman Osborne the scientist and The Green Goblin was done incredibly well. It was just awesome seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man go toe to toe with The Green Goblin!

I have tried to be as careful as I can be with my description of what went down in this movie so as to not spoil the epic and mind-blowing surprises. I can tell you that Spider-Man: No Way Home is just a fantastic movie from the start until the 2nd credits scene. I am wholeheartedly calling this my movie of 2021, that is how good it was. I already have my tickets booked for my second viewing!
