I need to start by saying that Star Wars Rebels is amazing and I am worried I cannot do the show justice in my review here today. Like many of you, I have been loving the Ahsoka TV show and that is what made me want to talk about the awesomeness that is Star Wars Rebels. If you are a Star Wars fan and still have not watched it, you need to do yourself a favor and do so.

Star Wars Rebels Review
Star Wars Rebels started back in 2014 and would run for four seasons. I loved when a new season of Star Wars Rebels would start as it would always do so with a movie-like special episode. Honestly, each new season of Rebels right up until the final one had me more excited than the last for it to start.

The Setting
One thing that is really cool about the show is the setting. Star Wars Rebels takes place after Episode III where the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic have fallen, but the rise of the Galactic Empire leading into A New Hope is going down. It is such an interesting part of Star Wars history and I just ate it all up.
The Premise
The premise of the show is that we have this group of “Rebels” who are trying their best to stop the rise of the Empire before it gets too big. Kanan Jarrus is the leader, he is a Jedi who survived Order 66. Ezra Bridger is a youngster who lives on the streets, but he has some serious potential, leading Janan to take him on as his Padawan and train him as a Jedi.
The Characters
We have a Rebel Commander in Hera Syndulla who is the pilot of their ship, The Ghost. There is her droid, Chopper who has the most personality of any droid apart from R2-D2 of course. Then we have Sabine Wren who is a Mandalorian who is very headstrong and badass. My son’s favorite character is Zeb, Zeb joins the team as he wants the Empire to pay for what they did to his people.
Character Dynamics
The team in Star Wars Rebels is great, each character gets their own stories, but it is the interaction and the relationships between the main characters that I love. Speaking of characters, there are so many characters in this show that I do not know where to start. Ahsoka comes into things and is awesome, but there are also other characters from the prequels such as Darth Sidious and Captain Rex.
Iconic Villains
There are also characters like Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin from the original trilogy are here too. However, it is the Inquisitors and General Thrawn that I love best in this show! Thrawn was such a great villain and a huge reason why I was so excited when the Ahsoka show was talked about.
No Filler Episodes
One of the most complimentary things I can say about Star Wars Rebels is that off the top of my head, I cannot think of anything in the show that just feels like filler. Each season is engaging and adds to the stakes that the team has to deal with. I loved The Clone Wars and I also love the more recently released Bad Batch. However, Star Wars Rebels feels far more like “classic” Star Wars than the other animated shows do.
Optimal Viewing
I have the complete Star Wars Rebels series on Blu-Ray and this is the way to watch it as it looks so much better than what is on Disney Plus. It looks fine on Disney Plus, but the Blu-Rays are so much sharper and not as dark. Plus there are some fun extras too. I will say that if Disney does release this on 4K, it will be a day-one purchase for me.
Conclusion
Look, Star Wars Rebels is amazing and I simply cannot do all the incredible storylines justice in a short review. I just do not see any way that a Star Wars fan would not like this. As I said in the intro, if you have still not made the effort to check this out, I highly recommend that you do!
