Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild

As is the case with any franchise in Hollywood, if you earn success, you will see your franchise get completely milked until the worst film in the series is churned out. That is a consistent theme with any big product in the western market, from video games to television series and of course, films. Stuart Little was a beloved kids’ franchise, which saw its third installment, Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild in 2005. This film was so average, and subpar in quality, that it caused the end of the franchise forever.

Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild – the Movie Review

Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild follows the adventures of Stuart Little, a talking mouse, as he goes on a camping trip with his family. In the wilderness, Stuart befriends a skunk named Reeko, who convinces Stuart to join him and his friends in an adventure to find a legendary monster. Along the way, Stuart and his new friends face various challenges and obstacles, including avoiding dangerous predators and navigating treacherous terrain.

Eventually, they find the monster, but they discover that it’s actually a kind and gentle creature who has been misunderstood by humans. Together, Stuart and his friends try to help the creature return to its rightful home in the wilderness.

The Story

The story plot of Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild is predictable and lacks any significant originality. Now, I’m not saying that the first two films were unique thrillers of any kind, but they had a lot of heart to them. This story is pretty straightforward, and there are no real surprises or twists.

The pacing of the film is slow and struggles to hold the attention throughout. The movie’s pace is uneven, and there are moments where the story drags on for too long.

The scriptwriting and dialogue quality of the film is average at best. The story lacks depth and creativity, and the characters are not developed enough to engage you. The dialogue is straightforward and predictable, with very little character development or emotional depth. The movie has some decent moments of humor, which will entertain younger viewers, but the dialogue is not compelling enough to keep older viewers engaged.

The Characters

The voice performances of the cast are commendable, with Michael J. Fox delivering a great performance as Stuart Little. However, the characters are underdeveloped, and the actors are not given enough material to work with. The voice cast is unable to elevate the weak script, and the characters feel flat and one-dimensional. The voice performances are not the issue, but the lack of character development is.

The Visuals

The visuals and CGI animation in the film are decent, with the animation team doing an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The backgrounds are visually stunning, and the colors are vibrant and engaging. The forest scenes are beautiful, and the animals are well-animated. The movie’s visuals are one of the few highlights of the film. It’s a very unique art style, and it’s something that I crave in an animated film scene that is supersaturated by identical-looking Disney and Pixar films.

The Music

The music and soundtrack of the film are average and fail to enhance the viewing experience. The score lacks a memorable theme, and the songs feel generic and forgettable. The music and soundtrack do not add anything to the story, and they do not elevate the film’s emotional moments.

I wish there was a better soundtrack here, it could have added a lot more to the film’s overall presentation, because right now, the animation is the only thing carrying this film.

Verdict

Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild is an average film that falls short of the standards set by its predecessors. The animation and voice acting are decent but the story lacks originality, character development, and emotional depth. The pacing of the film is slow, and the action scenes lack excitement. Although it provides some good moments of humor that will entertain younger viewers, the film fails to engage older audiences.

Overall, Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild is an average film that might appeal to fans of the series or young children, but it’s not a must-watch movie for anyone else.
