I thought that the 2019 Addams Family movie was a lot of fun! I grew up with the two 90s live-action movies and enjoyed them both so having a new take on the Addams Family to enjoy with my son was something I was excited about. To be honest, I was kind of surprised that The Addams Family 2 was even a thing, but I was glad when they said they were making a sequel.

The Movie Review
The directing duo of Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon is back from the first movie and I think that The Addams Family 2 is a sequel that builds very well on what the first movie put in place most of the vocal cast has returned such as Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia and Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday.
The supporting cast is once again great with people such as Nick Kroll, Snoop Dogg, and Bette Midler reprising their roles from the first movie. We also have Bill Hader as Cyrus Strange who along with Wallace Shawn as Mr. Mustela are the villains of the movie. The only missing piece is Pugsley who is now played by Javon Walton instead of Finn Wolfhard from the first movie.
Look, The Addams Family 2 is never going to be the kind of movie that wins a bunch of awards or gets a load of critical acclaim, but it is a fun watch. My son and I both had a few laughs and when the credits rolled, we both felt it was as good as the first movie. This time, the movie is more of a road trip movie.
Without going into major details, Gomez feels that he is losing touch with his kids so he decides a big family road trip is just what they need. This is complicated when the diabolical Cyrus Strange tells Wednesday that he is her real father and he can take this experiment Wednesday has done that can improve a human’s DNA to the next level.
The Addams end up going all over the country, trying to reconnect with each other and get Wednesday back. The movie has a lot of cheesy laughs and I think the family dynamic is done very well, my favorite character is actually Gomez, I think that Oscar Isaac is fantastic in this role and you can tell he was having a great deal of fun with it.
The first movie was set mainly in The Addams Family mansion and the surrounding town, but with The Addams Family 2 taking the family on the road, we get a more diverse-looking movie. It is a lot of fun to see this weird and kooky family go to all these other places and interact with “normal” people.
If you enjoyed the first movie, you are going to have just as much of a fun time with The Addams Family 2. You could argue that the movie is predictable and plays it safe and I would have a hard time disagreeing with you. However, I still think this is a fun time and an ideal movie for a family movie night.
