The Bob’s Burgers Movie

The Bob’s Burgers Movie is exactly how you do a movie that is based on a TV show. I came into the world of Bob’s Burgers rather late, by the time I got round to watching it, four seasons had passed! However, since then it has become a firm favorite of mine and is one of my go-to shows when I am looking for something fun and light to watch before bed.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie Review

I think that it is awesome the studio let series creator Loren Bouchard be the director, well co-director with Bernard Derriman and they bring the fun and wackiness of the show to the big screen near perfectly. One thing I have to give them a lot of credit for is that anyone can watch this movie.

This feels like it could have been a random episode from any season. It does not have any large bearing on the future of the series and that is something I actually like. It feels like an extended episode and that really is exactly what I wanted from The Bob’s Burgers Movie.

The plot of the movie sees the Belcher family trying to keep up with things and making sure their business is doing as good as it can. A massive sinkhole opens up right outside their burger joint, making it impossible for customers to get inside. That right there is bad, but it gets worse as a dead body is discovered in the sinkhole and fingers are being pointed at Bob’s landlord, Calvin Fischoeder!

Add to this the fact that the bank is calling in Bob’s business loan and things are pretty damn rough for the Belcher family. My favorite part of the movie was the kids trying to solve the murder! We also have Bob trying to make money by having a burger cart, but then running into trouble with carnies who think he is trying to move in on their turf.

The whole structure of the movie has a real air of familiarity about it. All of the plot points that make up The Bob’s Burgers Movie feels like they could have been a standard 22-minute episode and that is why I think the movie works so well. The humor is absolutely on point and I found myself laughing through most of the over 90 minutes runtime that the movie had.

They managed to get the voice cast from the show in for this movie so that is awesome. Speaking of awesome, The Bob’s Burgers Movie is technically a musical and the musical numbers are great, even if some of the cast do not have the best voices, but that just adds to the charm of the songs. The movie looks like the show, but just a bit brighter and more detailed in some places.

I thought that The Bob’s Burgers Movie was a really fun time and if you are a fan of the show, you are bound to love it. It complements the TV show very well and I could easily see myself sitting through this multiple times and having a great time with each viewing. If you have never seen the show, you may still find it funny, but it may lack the charm that it has for those that already know and love these characters.
