It is interesting how Winnie the Pooh and his buddies are no longer as huge as they once were. Do not get me wrong, Winnie the Pooh and friends will always be popular, but there was a while when they had to be classed as one of the biggest franchises Disney had. Today we are looking at the 2000 released movie, The Tigger Movie.

The Movie Review
The Tigger movie was the first of three new Winnie the Pooh movies that were released theatrically in the early to mid-00s. The Tigger Movie was followed by Piglet’s Big Movie and Pooh’s Heffalump movie. To be honest with you, all three of them are very good and well worth your time watching.
What I love about The Tigger movie is not just that it makes Tigger the star, but it is also a very nice story about family. While I would certainly say that “nice” is the best way to describe the movie once the credits roll, it does also tug on those heartstrings as well as you are watching it.
I have seen this movie a few times and each time, I get a huge kick out of the opening sequence. Tigger basically hijacks the intro to say how he is sick of every movie being about Pooh. It is fun stuff and it does a great job right at the start of making anyone who is not all that familiar with the 100 Acre Wood crew warm to Tigger immediately.
Tigger wants someone to play with him, but all of his friends are busy, except Roo, but when Roo shows up, Tigger is already gone. Tigger goes searching for his friends and in typical Tigger fashion, he causes chaos, a big mess, and ends up in trouble. His friends are kind of harsh on him and this makes Tigger really sad.
Roo asks Tigger about his family and Tigger then starts to think that he must have some family out there and decides to track them down. The “smart” one of the gang, Owl, gives Tigger and Roo some information about a family tree. Tigger gets this wrong and actually starts looking for a tree with Tigger stripes on it.
His friends realizing what is going on all send Tigger these lovely letters stating that they are their family. While this was nice, Tigger thinks that these letters are from other Tiggers that are out there and sets out to find them. This leads the rest of the gang to have to head out and try and save their buddy.
This is such a lovely movie and one that I would happily watch anytime. The ending breaks your heart and then makes you super happy all at the same time and it is very well done. I also love how Tigger basically realizes that Roo is his little brother which is such a heartwarming moment. Plus, the 100 Acre Wood gang all being dressed up like Tigger is one of the most iconic moments in Winnie the Pooh’s history.
Seriously, how anyone could watch this movie and not like it is completely beyond me! The Tigger Movie is such a lovely movie and I highly recommend that you watch this and then the other two Winnie the Pooh movies that followed it. I also think that the animation here holds up very well and this would be the style Disney would use for Winnie the Pooh for a good few years.
