What an awesome movie The Wolf of Wall Street is! I have seen this a few times and I am always entertained! It is a three-hour-long movie (typical Scorsese!) however, it never feels like a drag like some other long movies can do. With amazing performances, super-smart writing, and being shot nearly flawlessly, this is a movie that everyone needs to sit down and watch!

The Movie Review
A Gratuitous Tale of Excess
Gratuitous is probably the best way to describe what The Wolf of Wall Street is like. This is a movie about a man who can get it all, has it all, wants more, and is not scared to say and do what he wants. That man is Jordan Belfort and he is played by the phenomenally talented Leonardo DiCaprio who just keeps getting better and better.
A Charismatic Antihero
Belfort is an asshole for sure, but he is so charismatic and so sure of himself that you cannot help, but love the guy. Jordan Belfort has a real silver tongue and that is what really makes his Wall Street company blow up and become huge…. Well, that and the illegal shenanigans that are going on, too!
A Wild Ride of Debauchery
He and his business partner Donnie (Jonah Hill) have quite an interesting life. The lifestyle on show here is literally hookers, money, drugs, and repeat! He lives a truly insane lifestyle, but you kind of want to experience it, even for just a little bit. I have to give major props to Jonah Hill here too, he is another actor who just nails every role he takes on.
The Leading Ladies
You cannot really talk about The Wolf of Wall Street without bringing up Jordan Belfort’s wife, Naomi who is played by Margot Robbie. Who doesn’t love Margot Robbie? And she is fantastic in this role and looks absolutely gorgeous as well. Another main character we have to talk about is the FBI agent, Patrick Denham (Kyle Chandler) who is on the quest to bring down Belfort and his rotten to the core company.
An Electrifying Thrill Ride
The Wolf of Wall Street is just an absolute thrill ride. I think that the first three quarters of the movie are the best as we see the rise of Belfort and his company, not to mention the crazy stuff he gets up to. I think the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio narrates the movie makes it feel like he is sitting across from you, telling you his life story and it gives the movie a very personal kind of feel to it.
A Captivating Performance
It is just such a fun movie, a movie that is going to make you laugh and also get you all pumped up and ready to take on the world! The reason I say this is that in the monologues and anytime Belfort has a mic in his hand and is talking to others, he is just so captivating. He really does make you believe in what he is saying and makes you think that you could live the life he is living.
A Shift in Tone
This is just a personal preference thing here, but I did not think the latter part of the movie where his life is crumbling and the FBI have a hand on him was as much fun. It is not bad and as a story arc it makes complete sense and had to happen, I just had more fun with the first part of the movie. However, I am sure some may like the latter part so as I said, it was a personal preference thing.
A Timeless Favorite – Download It Now
If you have made it this far into the review, thank you, but as you can tell, I loved this movie. So far out of the five Scorsese and DiCaprio collaborations, I would rank this one at number two, just behind The Departed. It is one of those movies that never gets old for me and anytime I watch it, I have a great time. You need to download it and watch.
