Three Men and a Baby

Boy, do I have an 80s classic for you today! Three Men and a Baby is one of those 80s movies that pretty much everyone seems to love. Here in the UK, this is on Disney Plus and I came across it the other night and decided to watch it for the first time in years! To say that this holds up is an understatement and it was actually even better than I remembered it being!

The Movie Review

We have to start by talking about the cast, the trio of Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson is awesome and these guys are pure gold together. Tom Selleck is Peter, he is an architect and he has the most amazing moustache of all time. Steve Guttenberg is Michael and he is a cartoonist. Then we have Ted Danson who is Jack, an actor who is currently abroad making a movie.

The Chaos Begins

It is Jack who causes all the chaos in the movie. You see, Jack calls home and tells the guys that a package is coming for him, however, a baby called Mary shows up on their doorstep and they think she is the package. Mary was left by Sylvie (Nancy Travis) who had a thing with Jack and Mary was the result of that thing. Mary is also an actress and she needs to work so she is leaving the baby with Jack, or she thinks she is.

Adjusting to Fatherhood

Peter and Michael have no clue how to look after a baby, but they soon take to it and they fall in love with Mary. The twist to Three Men and a Baby is that this is not just a goofy movie about three guys without a clue looking after a baby. Turns out the “package” that was getting delivered was drugs and now it has all gone wrong and the guys find themselves the target of the drug dealers and also the cops who think something odd is going on.

Fun and Laughter

This is the type of movie that will make you smile the whole time you are watching it. It made me laugh and I actually liked all three of the guys, they were all likable in their own way and that mustache of Selleck’s is truly a thing of beauty! I will say that I did not take to Nancy Travis all that much in the movie, I love her in Last Man Standing, but I do not know what it was, there was just something I did not like all that much.

The Urban Legend

Oh, I also have to say that the whole urban legend of the ghost in the window in Three Men and a Baby is so much fun. Even though it has been debunked, there are still many convinced that the filming of this movie actually caught a ghost on film! Just imagine if it was Three Men and a Baby that proved the existence of the afterlife!

I am so glad that I watched this and it made me think I need to add this and its sequel to my movie collection. I also learned that Disney is doing a reboot and it has Zac Effron attached, I am pretty excited to check that out if it actually happens. If you are looking for a charming and funny movie from the 80s on Disney Plus, I highly recommend you watch this, you may be amazed at how well it holds up.
