I saw TMNT in theatres in 2007 and I have probably seen it at least five times since them. Each time I have watched TMNT, I always say that it is a great movie and so underrated. Thankfully, I do feel that over the last few years, this has started to get a lot more respect and people do appreciate it a lot more.
How to Download TMNT

The Movie Review
Introducing My Son to TMNT
This was the first Ninja Turtles that I introduced my son to and the movie remains a firm favorite of his to this day. I remember going all in with the action figures based on this line and some of these are worth a decent amount of money now. Ubisoft even made a video game for this which is pretty fun too.
The Fourth TMNT Movie
TMNT is the fourth Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and I would put it right up there as one of the best. It is set a few years into the future and each of the Turtles is doing their own thing now. One thing about TMNT is that this is actually a sequel to the other three movies and that is confirmed right at the end. This was not known when the movie came out so that was a total mindblower to me when I put the pieces together.
The Turtles’ New Lives
Master Splinter has sent Leonardo away to train so he can become an even better leader. Mikey is now working as a children’s entertainer called Cowabunga Carl and that is freaking hilarious. Donnie is working in tech support and Raphael is patrolling the streets as The Nightwatcher.
The Nightwatcher Buzz
Before TMNT came out there was a bit of buzz about “Who is the Nightwatcher” which the toys totally spoiled! Nightwatcher is awesome and in 2024 we are getting a new Nightwatcher comic book series from IDW. I already picked up the prequel to it on Free Comic Book Day and it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.
April and Casey’s New Roles
Even April and Casey have moved on from their crime fighting days. April runs a shipping company that tracks down old relics for rich clients and her latest client, Max Winters is at the heart of the story. You see Max Winters is an ancient and immortal being who lusted for great power with his loyal soldiers, but this power gave him immortality and turned his soldiers into stone.
The Mission to Capture the Monsters
Max has hired April to find all of his soldiers so that he can finally let them and himself be at peace. The way this needs to be done is to find and trap 13 monsters that were unleashed when Winters first got that power. Winters hires Karai and the Foot Clan and the fact that Karai is in this movie is so awesome. The Turtles end up thrust into this and end up trying to save the day as they always do.
Leo and Raph’s Relationship
The best part about TMNT is the relationship between the brothers. The fight and dialogue with Leo and Raph is some of the best stuff of any Ninja Turtles movie. To start with, this fight looks fantastic, but the emotion shown by Leo and Raph and the way they are with each other is amazing. As a long time Ninja Turtles fan, this scene gets me every time.
Casey and April’s Roles
I also want to highlight that we get some great stuff with Casey Jones here too. Casey is voiced by Captain America, Chris Evans, and April is voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar and they do an amazing job. Seeing Casey like Raph struggle to give up his crime fighting past is awesome. I love Casey Jones and I love how we get to see a bit of what his life became here. One day, I hope we get a full Casey Jones movie as that would be awesome!
Action and CGI Quality
TMNT has a lot of action and we get to see the brothers fighting together on many occasions. The quality of the CGI has held up pretty well and while the Leo and Raph fight may be the highlight, the rest of the movie still looks great. The monster and stone warrior designs are really cool and I actually wish that they made all of the monsters in action figure form, perhaps this is something Neca can do at some point!
Potential Sequel and TMNT Ranking
Over the years there has been some very interesting stuff about TMNT found. There was going to be a sequel where Leo, Raph, and Donnie all get mutated back into baby turtles and Mikey had to try and get them back! I love the sound of this and it is a real shame that they never managed to make this movie happen.
TMNT’s Place in Ninja Turtles History
When people talk about the Ninja Turtles movies, 99/100 it is that 1990 original that gets all the praise and hey, I am right there with them, that movie is awesome. However, TMNT is also a fantastic movie and if I were to rank the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies right now, I think I would put it second on my list! I have this on Blu-Ray and it looks amazing in HD, but I would kill with one of Leo’s katanas to get a 4K restoration of this as I bet it would look fantastic!
