The Song Review
Cheap Thrills by Sia ft. Sean Paul Video Interpretation
The music video provides a very retro feeling with its curved screen and dated wardrobe. We are greeted with a 1970s talk show host who presents the song on a record disc. He asks the audience to engage with the song.
The men in the audience are wearing checkered button-downs with loose slacks. On the other hand, women are dressed in turtlenecks, calve-length skirts, and strappy heels. The song begins to play on the talk show set while the host leads the audience.
We are introduced to a dated camera crew as the audience mouths the words to the song. The show host observes two individuals with dedicated dancing talents. The couple is wearing a signature Sia wig with half blonde and half black center part. The audience cheers them on and follows their lead.
The Bottom Line
The song displays enjoying the moment without exceeding your budget. We sometimes lose our ways by being ungrateful. Therefore, playing the song will makeyou more thankful while motivating you to push yourself for the things you don’t have.
About the Artists
Sia
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler was born in 1975 to a lovely couple in Adelaide, Australia. Her mother was teaching art at the time while her father was a musician. Least to say, creativity reined the family. Sia was introduced to creative outlets from infancy. She would sit along while her father played different instruments. Her father was a band member of INC and Men at Work’s Colin Hay.
Sia performed for the first time with a band Crisp while continuously singing Jazz in the 1990s. However, she launched her career as a solo artist in 1997 though it didn’t work out as expected. Therefore, she decided to move to the UK with her boyfriend.
Alas! The relationship unexpectedly ended when her boyfriend was killed in a car accident a week before the UK trip. After mourning the love of her life, she moved to the UK and worked on her first solo album, Healing is Difficult. The album was a tribute to her late boyfriend such as longs Little Man and Drink to Get Drunk. However, this was just the start of her globally successful career.
Sean Paul
Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques was born to a family of athletes. Swimming was in his genes and he even participated in the national team during his young phase. Furthermore, Sean Paul was also a bright student. He received scholarships and attended the best academic institutes in Jamaica.
Sean Paul was studying hotel management at the Jamaican College of Arts, Science, and Technology. While pursuing his studies, he began rapping in the local bars.
Soon afterward, he was noticed by Jeremy Harding, a music producer who later became his manager. Harding worked with Sean Paul to release his first album Stage One which ranked second on the reggae chart.
Sean Paul released his second album two years later. Dutty Rock had singles such as Gimme the Light and Get Busy. The same year he also worked with Beyoncé on her song, Baby Boy.
Due to his non-stop success, Sean Paul won a Grammy for the best reggae album. He would continue to win many Grammies later on. As a result, he is the most successful reggae artist from Jamaica on US music charts. In 2012, he decided to settle down by marrying his long-term love and TV personality, Jodie Steward.
