The Song Review

Sia – Elastic Heart – the Meaning of the Lyrics

Talking about the lyrical work of this song, it is exceptional in its beauty. The song is filled with so many emotions, and so are its lyrics. Sia is dedicating this song to her father, who has been into mental illness stages during her childhood. And this song is a dedication to the father’s power that came out of that phase just for her daughter’s love.

In one of the interviews, Sia has even mentioned that she even cried when writing the song’s lyrics because this song has been so close to her heart.

Sia – Elastic Heart Video Interpretation

The song’s lyric video starts with Shia LaBeouf and the “Dance Moms” starrer, Maddie Ziegler. Both of them are dancing on the animalistic duet inside a giant cage. The video looks so appealing and promising on the first time I watch it.

Sia’s father was dealing with a mental illness during her childhood, and she is trying to help him forget about his hard time. Maddie acts like Sia in this music video, and Sia represents her father figure. At the song’s end, Maddie (Sia) makes Sia (father) come out from the cage, portraying it as his illness.
