Call of Duty: Warzone

Let me start by saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the best COD games in years. Call of Duty: Warzone is free to play Battle Royale mode that even those without the base game can enjoy. If you do have Modern Warfare though, Warzone will appear as an option on the main menu screen.

The Game Review

Before I get into the good, I must say that the size of some of the updates that Modern Warfare has had (I am on PS4) is driving me nuts! Thankfully, this is one that was well worth as Warzone is one of the most fun Battle Royale modes that you can play right now.

As I write this we have one map to play on, but it is massive and never feels too small or large for the 150 players. The map is called Verdansk and it has all kinds of places ranging from open areas to have a big gunfight into smaller close-quarter areas where strategy comes into play. The map is very clever in its design and there will be areas you love and areas you try to avoid.

I would not say that Warzone is reinventing the wheel when it comes to this genre. It takes the best bits from other games and wraps them up in that Call of Duty style. This is one of the most streamlined and straightforward Battle Royale games I have played and as a result is more accessible and more fun.

You do not have to spend ages messing around with your loadouts, adding in attachments and so on. The guns are pretty straightforward here as is your armor and pretty much everything else in the game. This means that the majority of the focus of Warzone is all about the battle and battles are awesome.

Matches here feel fair, exciting and the time just fly’s on by. The progression system is great and I think that no matter the skill level of the player, fun will be had. Even when you are killed, it is not game over. You are taken to the Gulag where you get the chance to fight it out with another player to get back into the fight. It takes away a lot of the frustration of getting killed early in a match.

While Call of Duty Warzone has only been out a short while. I must say that this is some of the most fun I have had playing a game so far in 2020. It is fantastic that it is available for everyone and if you like shooters, but have never gotten into the whole Battle Royale thing. Well, this could be the one that is for you as it really is a ton of fun.
