Clone Drone in the Danger Zone

If the name, Clone Drone in the Danger Zone sounds familiar there is probably a good reason for that. Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is very popular at the moment with Twitch streamers. There is even a mode dedicated to Twitch in the game! Even though it is in early access, this downloadable title is showing a ton of promise.

Clone Drone in the Danger Zone Review

I love the idea behind this game. Humans have their consciousness put into robots who then must fight for the amusement of other robots. In a way, it kind of reminds me of games like Job Simulator and Virtual, Virtual Reality except this is not a VR game. It has a very tongue in cheek style about it and that is most evident from the robot commentators who are hilarious.

The core gameplay is that of a third person sword/action game. Your robot runs around the arena looking to slice and dice other robots. It is pretty cool how you can hack off limbs and seeing a one-legged robot hop around is funny. The combat is very satisfying and as there is no “dodge” you have to really pay attention to what you are doing.

As well as the sword, you can also get upgrades like a bow and hammer. You can then upgrade these as you progress through the game. The main game mode is a campaign which as I write this, lasts around 10 levels. It is a pretty funny story in all honesty and one that if you are s sci-fi comedy fan will get a real kick out of.

The main mode that I spent most of my time with is Endless mode. In Endless Mode, you need to just keep on surviving wave after wave of attack. It can get really, really tough and you have to make sure you are always paying attention. Just one little slip and it can be the end of your game. Now let’s talk about that Twitch mode.

I love the idea of this as it is about interacting with Twitch viewers. The Twitch viewers can put more robots in to watch you suffer or they can help you out. While I am not a “Twitch” person, I can see why Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is so popular with those of you who are. I am sure this mode will get even more stuff added to it over the coming months.

Speaking of which, tons of other game modes such as a fully fleshed out online mode and a Battle Royale mode are on the way. These along with the level editor could actually be in the game by the time you read this. So even though what is in the game now is fun, more is to come.

It is because of that I do not think the asking price is that bad. Some people right now feel that Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is a little overpriced. I would have to disagree. What is in the game now is fun and as I said there is plenty more in the pipeline to be released sooner than later!

The graphics are very nice and fit the tone of the game well. It has a rather blocky Minecraft/Roblox kind of style to it and it fits the storyline perfectly. I do feel a few more styles or robots would have been nice. Especially more in the spider robot variety as they look cool and creepy!

In all, I think that Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is a really fun game. It is in early access right now, but apart from missing game modes, everything works. It is well worth checking out and I can really see this becoming a rather big hit once it picks up even more steam.
