Don’t Starve Together is a downloadable multiplayer expansion for Don’t Starve, but it doesn’t require the basic version of the game. Don’t Starve Together gives the players an opportunity to play online together with their friends. This is a typical survival game in which the mechanics from the single version were transferred to multi. The independent Klei Entertainment studio which is responsible for the production of the game is also known for such titles as Oxygen Not Included, Shank 2, Mark of the Ninja, and of course the original Don’t Starve. All of the games share a similar graphic design and atmosphere. The expansion was released on April 21, 2016, and the game is available on the computers as well as on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

The Game Plot
Due to the fact that Do not Starve Together is a multiplayer game, the plot serves just as the background. As in the case of the original, you are unexpectedly thrown into an unfriendly environment in which you will fight for survival. The new interesting feature of the game that before you start playing you can choose your hero. There are several of them and each has unique skills and abilities that will help you survive. The gameplay itself is everything that the ordinary Don’t Starve was about. So you will have to build shelters, acquire food, create weapons and tools, and fight aggressive monsters.
The Game Mechanics
If you have played Don’t Starve before, the mechanics of the game will not come to you as a surprise. In addition to what the base game contained, Don’t Starve Together features also the content known from Reign of Giants add-on. The game world has is now also more varied and the now you need to look after your hero’s mental health.
There are now also more biomes (environments) that you will visit. The possibility of interacting with other players is also something new. You get the opportunity to set up a private game server to which you will be able to invite your friends. And their help may be necessary to survive in a world full of dangers. You can also try to play with complete strangers.
Don’t Starve Together: the Audio and the Graphics
The graphics in Don’t Starve Together are maintained in the cartoon style characteristic of all Klei Entertainment studio productions. The design is reminiscent of a grotesque cartoon style that can be found in Tim Burton’s animations.
The sounds in the game deserve a separate attention. All sound effects, such as the noises made by various animals and objects are constructed from the sounds given out by a variety of instruments. This is also characteristic of the entire Don’t Starve series.
