Enter the Gungeon is a 2D shoot’em up roguelike video game developed by Dodge Roll. The game was published by Devolver Digital and was officially released on 5th April 2016. Enter the Gungeon is a game which involves players choosing a character and then going through multiple floors where they face off against different enemies with unique skills. The game is available to play on Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The Game Review
On the main menu, there is only one available game mode to play which the campaign mode. Enter the Gungeon does not offer an online multiplayer mode, however, players can play offline multiplayer co-op mode with their friends. Before getting to the action, players have to choose from a variety of characters to play with which includes The Marine, The Convict, and The Hunter.
Each of these characters has unique weapons and ammo that they start off with.
- The Convict is equipped with a budget revolver, sawed-off, and Molotov.
- The Hunter carries a rusty sidearm, crossbow, and a dog.
- The Marine holds a marine sidearm, supply drop, military training, and +1 Armor
- whereas the Pilot carries a rogue special gun, trusty lockpicks, disarming personality, and hidden compartment.
There are also other playable characters such as The Bullet and The Robot which can be unlocked later on in the game.
Once the players pick their characters, they enter the Gungeon where they start off their journey. Players have to go through multiple floors with each floor having a random number of rooms in it. The main challenges on the floor include jumping or dodging obstacles and defeating numerous enemies which vary in strength, endurance, and attack behavior. In order to defeat these enemies, the game offers a variety of techniques. Players can dodge or flip over tables to cover from the enemy attacks whereas, at the same time, they can collect different guns lurking around in nearby treasure chests and use them to shoot the enemies down. The game features over 200 items which can be equipped and used by the players. The items collected can also be combined together which makes more efficient and beneficial to use.
At the end of each floor, the player encounters a boss enemy which is naturally more difficult to defeat compared to normal enemies. Players must be equipped with effective weapons along with items that can help from dying and in-turn use them. Moreover, the coins earned after defeating bosses on each floor unlocks the next one along with in-game currency which can be used to purchase special items from the shop.
Enter the Gungeon is a game which is often compared to the likes of The Binding of Isaac. Both the games are rogue-likes which means the gameplay experience is more or less the same. The mechanics are similar as well as the controls which enable the players to try out different varieties by using a combination of numerous guns and items.
Overall, Enter the Gungeon is a very fun and addictive game to play. The game has much to offer in terms of weapons and items which can further be used to apply different strategies in order to pass through the floors. The co-op mode also offers players to play with their friends which gives it all the more reason to play.
