Len’s Island is a game that I have had my eye on for quite some time. I love crafting, building, and survival games and this one looked like it had it all figured out. As I write this, the game has only been available in early access for around a week so please keep that in mind as we go forward. By the time you read this, more features and fixes could have been added.

The Game Review
The first thing I have to say is that I feel the game needs more in the way of a story. The basics are you have moved to a new island and you and your can-do positive attitude are going to make the best of it. I think that the game needs a more interesting and over-arcing story to keep you interested in the long haul. To be fair, the game is in early access so more narrative could be coming.
I have to say that the presentation of Len’s Island, even in the early access state is great. I love this setting as it is very beautiful and quite diverse too, plus the soundtrack is just perfect and very fitting. I am not actually sure what more they can do to the visuals as the game moves forward as they are already very impressive.
There are three main aspects (well in my opinion there are three) to the gameplay of Len’s Island and I want to talk about each of them. First of all, the crafting/building. This starts off great as you will be happily hunting around the island looking for resources to craft and build with. It has a modular building system and you are free to build your homestead however you want.
Even in the early stage of the game, the building aspect of it is very well done and I am excited to see what more will be added. The combat and dungeon crawling aspect of the game is something I feel is showing a great deal of promise. You start at the top of a dungeon and then fight your way down, getting the valuable resources as you go.
I love this! I have read that some people are not keen as they feel it is a bit grindy and repetitive. However, I have found the combat and dungeon exploration to be very rewarding. The farming aspect of the game is not quite there for me yet. Getting rid of weeks and looking after your garden feels like a bit of a chore right now, but thankfully it did not ruin the experience for me.
I know that it is very early days for Len’s Island, but this game is showing a great deal of promise. While it is not exactly packed with content just yet, I do think what is here is fun and a good indication of what is to come. If you like building, crafting, exploring, and dungeon crawling, give this a try, or at least keep an eye on it until it has its first big update.
