The Review
Starting off with the Mega Man X Collection 1, the game is a collection of the first four series of Mega Man namely Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, and Mega Man X4. The main menu has quite a few options for the players as the reboot offers new features such as the museum which contains all the artworks, the original Japanese Rockman X trailer, photos of Mega Man X figures, and all the music from each game.
The game allows players the option to play either the US or Japanese version of any of the including version. In the first level of Mega Man X, the game mostly teaches the players the basic controls like shooting, jumping, and walking. It also explains how Mega Man’s suit can be built and made stronger by unlocking secrets that lie in the game.
Mega Man X2 features new abilities compared to its predecessor such as a bike which the players can ride along with new mini-missions that they can take part in. Mega Man X3 is also a similar game which continues the overall plot of the series, it adds more secrets along with giving the players an opportunity to find the hidden armor pieces within the game. Mega Man X4 is comparatively far ahead than the previous editions in terms of graphics. The edition also adds more optional game modes apart from the main story including rookie hunter mode and X-Challenge mode.
In Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 contains Mega Man X5 all the way leading up to Mega Man X8. Similar to the first collection, the game offers a lot of extra features in the main menu including the museum and the option of choosing a language from a large variety. Mega Man X5 follows the same storyline as the original one, with the addition of a few changes made to the names of the boss enemies.
Mega Man X6 follows up by providing more intense cutscenes which actually invokes the interests of the players who carefully follow the storyline, but the overall gameplay remains the same. Moving on to the Mega Man X7, some drastic changes can be seen in the whole gameplay thanks to the enhanced graphics.
The game features 3D camera angles which allow more challenging fights and enemies to deal with. However, the X7 isn’t regarded as one of the best editions since players hardly get the chance to play Mega Man himself.
Finally, Mega Man X8 vastly improves the gameplay and fixes the bugs that could be seen in X7. The players can swap playable characters, and added to that, the game also displays high definition animation and designing, consequently providing a better gameplay experience.
Overall, the Mega Man X Collection 1 and 2 is a bundle which contains the ultimate Mega Man experience. The players can either go old school by playing the Mega Man classic 90’s games or directly switch to the newer 3D enhanced graphics Mega Man versions. The bundle allows a vast amount of gameplay experience, particularly for those who love Sega.
