The Game Review

Pogostuck: Rage With Your Friends is a game that is frustrating as hell, but I cannot stop playing it! They have managed to make a game that is fun, but so very frustrating as well and that shows how good the devs behind the game are. The idea is very simple, you are a little dude with a pogo stick and you need to make it as far as you can.

It is very reminiscent of games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy or less popular Golfing Over It with Alva Majo, but I feel that Pogostuck: Rage With Your Friends has a lot more charm and personality than that game did. What I think makes this stand out is the fact that you never get a second to breathe. You always have to keep moving, the moment you stop to pat yourself on the back for reaching 14% 24% or heck even %50, you will fall and have to start again.

This is so frustrating when it happens, but at the same time, you always feel that it was because of something you did. You also feel that if you just pay a little bit more attention or try a little bit harder that you will make it next time. As is evident by how much this has blown up on Twitch. Pogostuck: Rage With Your Friends has a huge appeal as a social game.

Not just in watching other people play it on the internet,  but in playing with other people online. I have played quite a bit online and had fun every time. What I like about playing online is that you can sometimes see what worked for another player and what did not. The flip side of this is that by paying attention to what someone else is doing, you are taking your eye of your own guy and that can lead to disaster!

As you play you can unlock some fancy swag for your little guy that can make them stand out and be a bit more of an individual. There are also leaderboards that you can compete for as well if you fancy yourself as a bit of an expert, but this game has a pretty hardcore community so it will take some serious work to get your name on there.

I think a huge part of what makes Pogostuck: Rage With Your Friends so addictive is the controls. They are very simple, but you really do feel that you have complete control over your character. Pulling off a fancy 360 jump to make it extra far or leaning just a tad to the left to make a tricky jump all feel great when you nail them just right.

I think that Pogostuck: Rage With Your Friends is a charming little game and it is very easy to see why so many people love it. I can also see how it is a game that some people will just flat out hate and I get that. If you like challenging, tricky games that have a lot of personality you really should give it a try.
