Bringing the power back to the people is not going to be easy. The game has lots of challenges here, the primary one is that you have lots of missions that include battles. But unlike GTA, which this game gets inspiration from a lot, this title is all about offering new liberties and fun moments. It focuses a lot on hand to hand combat, where the kung fu and other styles of combat really stand out.
And it definitely makes a lot of sense, just because the title is so powerful and unique, to begin with. They always bring to the front some creative and unique game mechanics, and the best part is that this does tend to work amazingly well for the most part.
The martial arts combat is intuitive and fun in here. They showcase a lot of this and you can try to create your own style of attack if you want. But the true benefit is that they don’t push you towards a certain thing or another. You are always in control and you can feel free to pick whatever approach and style suit your needs.
We also like the fact that there are a lot of outfits. This is a great part of the game because you have plenty of customization and a lot of unique features that work as a whole. It’s a wonderful and rewarding experience, one that you will like exploring again and again for the most part.
The controls are slick. You need that for powerful combat and the best part is that the game always strives to be creative and fun no matter the situation. Even if there are going to be some challenging moments as you play, the experience is nice and the game is very solid for what it is. So yes, you are bound to love the way this plays, even if it might take a while to get used to the way everything controls.
However, there are some flaws too. The enemies are very repetitive and even the attacks are not as diverse. That doesn’t mean the game is bad, but it can definitely be better and you need to walk a fine line as you try to complete everything.
The story is great, Sleeping Dogs plays very well and it also aged amazingly well too. A lot of people like GTA, but if you want a fresh change of pace, then Sleeping Dogs is certainly right up your alley. It’s easy to get into, a lot of fun to play and you will enjoy it a lot.
