Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands Review
The game setting is Bolivia in South American, where the Mexican Cartel of Santa Blanca has all the power. By pressure on local government and by intimidating of civilians, they have managed to take over the entire country, which caused concern of the United States. Therefore, the task of destroying the cartel is entrusted to the Ghost Recon special unit.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is characterized by an open world, which means that the player can freely explore the map of the game. Unlike other Ubisoft production such as Far Cry 4, the entire map is available from the beginning of the game, so there is no need to discover it and no fog of war.
You get many vehicles for exploration, such as cars, motorcycles, boats, and even helicopters, which you use to travel the Bolivian landscape and the locations are diverse.
Your missions will be performed in the high Andes, as well as in the tropical jungle typical of South America, and even in the desert. It all gives Wildlands a special atmosphere, characteristic of the series. There is no predetermined order of mission execution imposed by the devs, so their implementation depends only on the player’s approach. You can act quietly, just like the name of your unit (Ghost Recon) suggests, or if you choose so, you can create a real hell for your virtual enemies.
The game developers offer the opportunity to play the game in a co-operative mode – the maximum number of players is four. In the case you prefer adventuring alone, the remaining other members of the team will be controlled by artificial intelligence.
As a soldier, you will be able to modify weapons and equipment in order to adapt it to the nature of the task you will have to perform. For the completed missions you will be awarded experience points, which will improve your skills.
The engine running the game is Ubisoft’s proprietary AnvilNext 2.0. It is also used in other productions of the label.
The soundtrack is limited to the music served by the radio located in the player’s car as well as the sounds made by the weapons, which are quite varied.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands offers many hours of quality gameplay. With the tactical nature of the game and the open world you can literally feel like a soldier on the enemy territory. The visuals only intensify this impression.
