I am legit worried that I am not going to be able to do Vampire Survivors the justice it deserves with this review! This game is truly outstanding and the immense number of positive reviews on Steam proves that. This is a game that is going to build traction by word of mouth as when you watch a trailer, it is hard to comprehend what makes this game so good!

The Game Review
We play as one of a handful of heroes and we have one job, to survive for 30 minutes. That is the whole game, survive a horde of monsters for 30 minutes. That sounds very simple and the gameplay of Vampire Survivors is simple, but the execution is pretty much perfect!
This is kind of like a bullet hell shooter mixed with a roguelike, but it is really its own thing. We can move our little hero around the screen, but he will shoot automatically. There is a horde of monsters that close in so you have to keep your wits about you as you dodge them. There are blue gems on the floor and you need to grab these as quickly as you can.
These blue gems, orbs, or whatever you want to call them are how you progress through the game. You pick them up and you can get upgrades, level up, or improve. The first time I played the game I had a weapon that would shoot through enemies and bounce off walls, my first upgrade was a weapon that would target the closest enemy. This was a great start to that run!
You can get various passives, weapons, and so on and it is in tinkering with the builds that make Vampire Survivors so addictive. You can always refund all of the gems that you have spent and try a new build. I know that this does not sound like a lot of fun, but this is one of the most addictive games I have played in quite some time.
As you can only have a handful of abilities at any one time, there are so many different combinations for you to check out. I have tried all kinds, from one that is very heavily offense-based to one that is more about moving fast and keeping away as long as I can.
This is one of those games where you never know how a run is going to go. I have lasted the full 30 minutes on many occasions, but I have also fallen just a few minutes in too. No matter what, I am always compelled to jump back in and have another go. For just a few bucks, this is one of the best deals that you can get on Steam right now!
