The DLC Review
The base game begins with a landscape shot of the world around us in the game. The graphics are stunning and the game sets a high bar when it comes to realism not only in the features the game offers but also in the information the game develops its story on. We begin in the small town of Silver Skavitz where we are introduced to the family of the main character, Henry. We quickly learn that Henry is a slacker who can’t do much. We have dialogue choices as we engage with other characters and each dialogue we choose points the story in a different direction.
Once we get used to the game and complete the main storyline we get access to the DLC version of From the Ashes. To access this version, we have to locate sir Davish. In this version, we get to rebuild the village of Pribyslawitz. Henry acts as the bailiff and has to manage pretty much everything about the village from constructing buildings to paying the villagers.
There was a great level of realism in the base game and we can expect something similar in the DLC. We will require at least 20,000 gold coins, to begin with. We have to store the money in a chest located in the headquarters of the governor. We get to encounter many other choices but we have to build the village from scratch.
Many of the missions are connected to the building of the village. For example, we need to gather resources that will be used for building. This act is connected to the quest called ‘Resources’. We can get all the information about the activities of the village from a book located in the village. The book tells you the objectives of any quest. It also allows us to browse any available locations to build on and shows us the balance sheet of the village. The balance sheet can vary for a number of reasons that do not necessarily have to be financial.
Usually, we have to build a Woodcutters camp first so we can use it to make other investments. After that, we must build a traders house which is a necessity in the resources quest. These locations are necessary because they encourage more investment.
Another important aspect of the game is the relationship you have with the locals and sir Devish. There are countless conflicting situations that require Henry’s decision and it doesn’t always make everyone happy. Avoiding these situations is not recommended as they only serve to create more tension.
Once the village is functioning and begins to generate funds, Henry can rely on it as a constant source of income.
