The Storyline
The game continues the story told in the previous game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. During the game what happened in the earlier part will have a big impact on the current story and the tasks (the game will know what happened based on the save file from the previous game or based on the answers provided by the player). This is a nice touch for fans who spent a lot of time with the series. The third Witcher game relates in great detail the fate of two female characters Ciri and Yennefer from Vengerberg who were, next to Gerald, the most important heroes of the Witcher saga. Thus the game is a continuation of the books of Andrzej Sapkowski. Every fan of the novel will have the feeling that he must play this game and write a new ending to the Witcher history. The players are free to make different choices during the game which may have far-reaching consequences.
The Game Guide
The game starts with a tutorial which begins in Kaer Morhen, the old castle of the witchers, where the White Wolf (Gerald) was once transformed into a witcher and trained in this role by learning magic (so-called Witcher Signs) and fencing. You then start looking for two lost women Yennefer and Ciri. For this, you have a perfect travel companion – the horse names Roach. With its help, you can move faster or even take part in races where the prize can be for example a better saddle.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game Mechanics
In the game, you control Geralt from behind his back. You are equipped with two swords: silver for monsters, steel for humans. You can improve them by using appropriate ointments or oils, which will cover the blades. By collecting information about monsters in the bestiary, you will know what kind of oil you can effectively use against each creature. As a witcher, your main task is to accept orders to kill monsters that ordinary people cannot deal with. These can be vodnicks, wights, nightwraiths, wolves, cockatrices vampires, etc. In the game, you are free to do what you want. You can follow the main storyline, side quests or simply search the map blindly in looking for adventure. The quests are original and often something simple evolves into a complicated intrigue. With the money you can buy, make or upgrade weapons and armor. You can also purchase bombs (sometimes used to attack and destroy monsters’ nests), potions or various blade enhancement (oils and runes). With the experience gained, you are given the opportunity to develop your character by improving his skills and gaining new ones.
The Fight
During skirmishes, you can perform quick and slow blows. You can dodge, parry and even do some acrobatics. To remain in good health keeps you need to eat, rest and use potions. The potions can be used also to see better at night or to inflict more damage. There is, however, a level of toxins poisoning you should not reach, so you cannot overuse potions. You attack your enemies shooting with crossbows, throwing bombs, or usually using Signs or one of the two swords.
The Expansions to the Game
The game has received two official expansions: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine.
