The Game Review

Available for the Microsoft Xbox One, Sony PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows PC, the game from the devs at EA Tiburon uses the Frostbite 3 engine for enhanced simulations and gameplay features. Released on August 10, 2018, Madden NFL 19 paid particular attention to improving the in-game running and catching maneuvers, so essential to a football game, as well as adding some more robust simulation features in the mix.

Featuring triple-A production from top to bottom, the graphics engine boasts levels of realism yet unseen in a sports game while the in-game physics mechanics simulates real-world outcomes to a degree much better than previous games in the series. But that’s not all in Madden NFL 19. In true blockbuster form, the graphics and gameplay are not only top-notch but the game has a rocking soundtrack with over 30 tracks featuring artists from Migos to Cardi B in what is decidedly the most pop culture-heavy compilation on a video game OST this year.

Touting what it calls “real player motions,” EA emphasizes that Madden NFL 19 allows players a greater degree of freedom in controlling their players and teams than ever before. One feature carried over from Madden NFL 18 is the “Longshot” mode which is essentially a story or career mode but one that is hugely popular with fans.

Another mode that is bandied about by players as being a true evolution for the series is the Franchise mode that gives players an untold level of customization options. The biggest single improvement in Madden NFL 19 over previous entries is in the mechanics of the game itself. While simulation is always at the core of the Madden experience, no game before has taken it quite as seriously as this one – and to stunning effect.

From player motions that feel fluid and realistic to the endless options when it comes to customization and replay value, many critics feel like this edition is one of the better games in the series in years.

As the 2018-2019 football season progresses EA has promised to add new content to the game from everything including music tracks to gameplay tweaks as needed. Players in the market for the best American football simulation available right now probably want to give Madden NFL 19 a look over as it has won the hearts of critics and old fans alike in its quest to bring the NFL to the living room in a whole new way.
