Cossacks 3 is a downloadable classic real-time strategy. The game is set in the golden era of Cossacks, at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. The title is a remake of the first part of the series. This title, as well as the previous two parts, has been developed by the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, which has such bestselling titles as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or American Conquest series under its belt. The title was released on September 20, 2016, and is available on PCs running Windows, Linux, or macOS.

The Story
The story of the game takes you to the times of Cossacks wars. The game contains five different campaigns, in which you can lead up to twelve different nations. As in previous parts of the series, the game has a historical setting, so you will take part in historical events and famous battles. In addition, the Digital Deluxe Upgrade version includes a new mini-campaign. The factor that has always been characteristic of these games is big battles in which up to 10 thousand units can participate simultaneously.
The Game Mechanics
Cossacks 3 mechanics are the same as the ones in the first part of the series – Cossack: European Wars which was released in 2001. Again, you will be commanding an army one of twelve nations, among them Poland, Russia, England, and Ukraine. Your main task will be to expand the country, build the army and overcome the enemy from the neighboring countries. At your disposal are have both historical scenarios and single fictional battles. You need to take care of both the economy and the military aspects in order to gain an advantage. To do this, you must develop subordinate cities, invest in science, recruit units, collect resources and strengthen your positions.
Each nation has its unique set of units and buildings, which in total sums up to 70 different combat units, more than 100 inventions to discover, and nearly 170 different buildings to construct. Another interesting addition is the map generator, which gives you the ability to create your own scenarios and decide on such parameters as the initial number of available resources and the size of the army.
In the battle mode, you get the ability to both issue orders and control a single unit. The soldiers in the game are not nameless heroes. Each of them has individual parameters and skills. The game also features the multiplayer mode, which allows for up to eight players.
