Reigns: Game of Thrones is a downloadable Tinder-like strategy game (it has a similar experience to the popular dating app Tinder where you swipe left and right to decide if you like a person or not). It’s been created by the developers at Nerial, the same team behind all of the previously successful Reigns game that hit shelves in 2016. Releasing on the 18th October 2018, Reigns: Games of Thrones is set to provide a new set of stories for each character. With the inclusion of the Game of Thrones brand (the famous fantasy TV series based on a series of novels by George R. R. Martin), Reigns this time around has you playing as one of many popular characters from the books and TV show. You are allowed to reign over your own chosen kingdom and make decisions for it, whether they’re the right ones remains to be seen.

Reigns: Game of Thrones Review
The story has you take on the role of one of many different major characters in the Game of Thrones franchise and requires you to make different decisions to keep your kingdom in check. The writing for the game will differentiate for each character you use to some degree, and the story may not be the most engaging in comparison to the books and TV show, the story does manage to keep your intrigue. Even if it’s for a brief few moments, the story envelops and exudes the Game of Thrones mythos.
When it comes to the gameplay, there isn’t too much in terms of variety. Regardless of the platform, you end up playing the game on, there’s one of two things you can do: swipe left or swipe right. Each side has their own decision for the player to choose between and depending on what you choose, you’re going to increase or decrease in one of four different resources.
By failing and reducing any one of these resources all the way down to zero, then your reign will end and the game will be over. At which point, the end thing left to do is restart and potentially play as a different character, depending on how you want to play it.
As you play through your reign of the kingdom, you’ll have many options thrown at you and even some small resemblance of a goal as well. Depending on just how long you’ve survived, you’ll come across goals that the game recommends you complete and following these requests are more likely to help your kingdom survive the harsh winters of Game of Thrones.
By managing to keep all of your resources in check, with not a single one ever reaching zero, you’ll finally be considered a winner and your reign will be a success, allowing you to move onto the next character and their particular version of events.
The only comparison that can really be made for this game is the previous Reigns games, as they all have the exact same gameplay options as this game. Obviously, the dialogue is completely different than the previous games, along with the overall setting of the games.
Anyone that’s looking for an interesting take on their favorite epic fantasy, Game of Thrones, Reigns: Game of Thrones provides a fun and interesting take on the fan-favorite franchise. Just be aware that if you weren’t ever a fan of the gameplay of Reigns in the first place, this version does nothing to change that.
