A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is my favorite movie in the franchise! This along with parts 4 and 5 make up their own little trilogy in the franchise and all three are a lot of fun. I have seen this movie a ton of times and when I think of Freddy or the franchise in general, 99/100 it will be something from this movie that comes to mind.

The Movie Review
The Plot Unfolds
While Wes Craven had nothing to do with the second movie, Wes Craven was more hands-on with this one as he helped put the script together. I think that this feels far closer to the first movie in terms of its tone and style than the second one and that is something I consider to be a very good thing.
Introduction of Characters
Kristen is a young woman who is being terrorized by Freddy. After an encounter with Freddy, Kristen’s parents think that the slashes on her writs were a suicide attempt so ship her off to Westin Hills Psych Hospital. Kristen is not happy about this and begs people not to put her to sleep.
This hospital has other young people who are troubled and have attempted suicide. We have Kincaid who is a tough kid, Phillip who is a sleepwalker, Jennifer who wants to be an actress, Will who is in a wheelchair, Joey who doesn’t speak and Taryn who used to be a drug addict. These are a great group of young characters and despite the rather modest run time, I feel like we get to know these characters pretty well.
Development of the Plot
Turns out, this hospital was the best place for Kristen to be sent as the final girl from the first movie, Nancy works here! Nancy along with Dr. Gordon try to do all that they can to help these kids and Nancy realizes that Kristen has the same power she does. Just like Nancy, Kristen is able to bring people into her dreams.
Freddy starts to pick the kids off one at a time. This movie has some of the most fun and creative Freddy kills, Freddy controlling Philip like a puppet is probably my all time favorite Freddy kill. Some are really gross and gruesome too, but we also start to get some of what would become Freddy’s trademark sense of humor in this movie too.
Resolution and Conclusion
Nancy and Dr. Gordon have an idea. They get the kids together where they can try and do some dream therapy with the idea that they can share a dream and utilize their dream powers! This would give them a great edge against Freddy, but there is more going on here than just that.
We also meet a nun who tells us about how Freddy came to be and the secret to put him to rest once and for all. I truly do think that A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors does a whole lot to add a bunch of important lore to Freddy. This is one of the fastest-paced Nightmare on Elm Street movies too, something is always happening!
If I am only going to watch one movie from this franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors will be my choice every time. This is the perfect blend of demonic brutal killer Freddy and wisecracking Freddy in my opinion. This is just a fun movie plain and simple, a perfect 10 in every regard for me.
