Look, if you have seen the trailer for Anyone But You, you know already how this movie is going to end! This is a romantic comedy that is a fun time and a kind of feel-good movie too. It is never going to win any awards and it is pretty forgettable, but it is good-hearted fun that is ideal if you want something light, cute, and amusing that is an easy watch.

The Movie Review: A Light-Hearted and Amusing Watch
I did actually have high hopes for this. The movie stars Glen Powell who I loved in Scream Queens, he was probably my favorite character on that show. He has really seen his star rise since appearing in Top Gun Maverick and I hope that this romantic comedy that is not exactly getting great reviews will not hinder that.
The other star of the movie is Sydney Sweeney who is a very talented young actress that I first saw in the criminally underrated, Everything Sucks on Netflix. She manages to be very easy on the eyes, but she has a sweetness and a kind of vulnerability about her that makes you like her.
Predictability and Charm in Anyone But You
Powell plays a guy called Ben and Sweeney a girl called Bea. Ben and Bea have a first date and it goes amazingly well as they have great chemistry, but it ends on a sour note. The two of them though do not find their connection severed as there is a real twist of fate thing here.
You see, it turns out that Ben’s sister and Bea’s sister are a couple and the two of them are having a destination wedding in Australia and of course, Ben and Bea are invited and are staying in the main house! The two have a lot of tension as they both blame the other for how their date ended.
If that was not bad enough, both their exes are at the wedding too and Ben and Bea decide that they should pretend they are a couple so people stop hassling them. Two people who argue and do not get on pretending to be in love…… gee, I wonder how this is going to turn out! Yes, Anyone But You is as predictable as a romantic comedy could be, but that does not mean it is bad!
Final Thoughts on Anyone But You
The movie looks great, thanks to being set in Australia and it was like the people who made this movie just went out and got the two best-looking people they could for the lead roles! It is good-hearted, fun and silly stuff and if you do enjoy romantic comedies, I am sure that you will have fun with it.
Do not get me wrong, it is nowhere near being an all-time romantic comedy classic, but I would not be against adding this to my collection and watching it again. If you do not like romantic comedies then I have no idea why you are reading this, have watched the trailer, and are considering watching it as you will hate it! I do not see any way in which someone who is not into this genre would have fun with it.
