I was so intrigued by the Barbie movie for many, many months leading up to its release. Mainly, I had no idea who the heck this movie was made for! Was it made for little girls that currently play with Barbies? Was it made for those who are now adults that grew up with Barbie? I think it is way more the second than it is the first, but this was such a fun movie and it had me smiling and laughing the whole way through it.

The Movie Review
Written and directed by Greta Gerwig I honestly do not know how someone could have made a better movie about Barbie than this! I would say that Greta Gertwig has done for Barbie what Michael Bay did for that first live-action Transformers movie! Hopefully, she can do better than he did if this thing gets a sequel, which with how much money it has made I would be shocked if it did not.
I will get the obvious out of the way, Margot Robbie nails the role of Barbie! I used to always think of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, but now I think I kind of see her as Barbie more. She is fun, cute, sexy, and just has this really “nice” quality about her that you cannot help but love.
Ryan Gosling as Ken
However, for me, Ryan Gosling as Ken steals the show here. Ryan Gosling always nails it in his dramatic roles as he is such a great actor, but he is also a very funny guy as well. With Barbie, he really gets to cut loose and we see just how funny he is and how good his comedic timing is! As much as I loved Margot Robbie, it was he who was the real star for me here.
Fantastic Ensemble Cast
Barbie has a fantastic ensemble cast and I encourage you if you have not already to NOT look at who is all in this movie as you will get such a kick out of some of the cameos. The other Kens and Barbies are hilarious and there were more than a few surprises in there that I had no idea where in this movie.
The Plot of Barbie
The plot of Barbie is a lot of fun. Barbie lives in her Barbie world and loves life, but one day she notices some alarming changes! I just have to say that I love the Barbie world and the way that all the women have real and important jobs while the Kens just play around and look good.
Barbie’s Adventure in the Real World
Barbie is given some interesting advice. The advice Barbie is given is that she needs to head into the real world to find the kid that is playing with her and this will help her get back to “normal.” Ken ends up tagging along with Barbie and the two of them end up on this very fun and wild adventure in the real world.
Interactions with Real People
Barbie is the real works is fun and she has some interesting interactions with real people such as Gloria (played by America Ferrara who I love from Superstore) who works for Mattel. Not to mention the very manic Will Ferrel who is playing the role of the CEO of Mattel.
A Unique and Fun Movie
It is kind of crazy that a movie about Barbie coming to the real world is as good as it is! I just do not know how anyone could have made a Barbie movie that is better than this. I have a young niece so I have seen some of those animated Barbie movies and they are freaking terrible so I am glad that they did something unique, fun, and interesting with this.
