The Plot
Released on 12th April 2016, the movie starts from 1991 where a brainwashed super-soldier called James Bucky Barnes is sent to Siberia to intercept a vehicle which is carrying super-soldier serum. In the present time, U.S Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross tells the Avengers that the U.S government is about to pass a bill that will establish a UN panel which will oversee and control their operations.
The Avengers become divided as Tony Stark (Iron Man) lends his support to Ross whereas Chris Rogers (Captain America) disagrees. Meanwhile, a villain named Helmut Zemo manages to steal a book which contains the words that trigger Barnes. At the same time, a bomb explodes in Wakanda which kills King T’Chaka.
After being shown how Barnes was responsible for the explosion through footage, T’Chaka’s son, T’Challa, sets out to avenge his father’s murder. Rogers, without informing the authorities, recruits Scott Lang (Ant-Man), Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch), Clint Barton (Hawkeye), and Sam Wilson (Falcon) and heads out to bring in Barnes.
At the same time Stark, with the permission of Ross, forms a team consisting of Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), T’Challa (Black Panther), James Rhodes (War Machine), and Peter Parker (Spider-Man) to take out Rogers’ team. An intense fight breaks out between the two groups and it is revealed that Barnes was framed, and the real bomber turned out to be Zemo, who is arrested by T’Challa. After finding out about his parents’ death, Stark once again fights an all-out battle against Rogers, only leading to a draw between the two. The film ends as the two depart to their own separate ways.
Captain America: Civil War Review
Just like every other Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War became an absolute hit throughout the globe. The film had as much as 20 visual effects companies working on it including Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Lola VFX, Method Studios, Luma Pictures, DNEG, Image Engine, Trixter, Cinesite, and The Third Floor.
Each company was given a certain aspect of the film to work on. Lola VFX which was responsible for creating a younger version of Stark explained the difficulty of that scene by claiming that it was close to 4000 frames with Robert Downey Jr. moving his head from side to side at the same time. Method Studios, which worked on 440 shots and was responsible for the helicopter scene during the fight between Iron Man, Barnes, and Rogers, explained how difficultly, yet efficiently, they managed to adjust the two scenes together which had to occur at the same time.
The Music
As far as the music is concerned, Henry Jackman, who also composed the score for Winter Soldier, made a comeback and rightly so. The score he composed this time around was relatively classical, mainly due to the tension that was seen in the film. The score was released by Hollywood Records on 6th May 2016.
Captain America: Civil War, like most Marvel films, turned out to become very successful at the box office. The film grossed over the mind-boggling $1 billion milestone, making it another successful superhero film to watch.
