Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training

One of the best things for me about Demon Slayer is that it is something that my son and I have enjoyed together. My son is “too cool” to do much with me these days, but Demon Slayer is one of the things that we can still have fun with together. I have enjoyed the last two Demon Slayer movies and we were excited to be able to see this in our local theatre, even if it was only on a couple of times.

The Movie Review

Reading other people’s thoughts on this is kind of funny to me. I have read many people saying that this is a “scam” as it is not a movie, much like the previous movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village. This movie is not a 100 percent original story, it is made up of episodes from the show that have been put together, the idea being hardcore fans can see a new episode before it airs as part of a new season.

Synopsis

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training takes the last episode of season three of the show and the first episode of season four and brings them together. They have a little bit of stuff to bridge it all together. Much like the last Demon Slayer movie, this is not a “casual” kind of experience and it does require you to be all caught up.

The brief synopsis of what is going down here in the movie is this. Tanjiro and Himejima are training hard to become even more powerful and we also have Muzan on the hunt for Nezuko and Ubuyashiki. My son has read the manga of Demon Slayer and he has some concerns about how the Hashira Training arc can be stretched out to a whole season! I have not read the manga myself so I cannot speak for this, but I am certainly excited for the upcoming season after seeing this.

If I am being 100 percent honest, I would not say that I liked Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira better than I did, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village. But, I will say that I think they edited this one together better. The previous movie literally felt like they just took the episodes and put them on back-to-back. Here it flows from one episode to the next a little smoother and it has a badass intro that freaking rocks!

Animation and Visuals

As this is Demon Slayer, you will not be surprised to hear that the animation is once again fantastic, seriously, this is the best-looking and best-animated anime that is around these days. It is truly stunning what they are able to do and even when things are happening very fast, it is all still crystal clear so you can see what is happening.

Conclusion

I am glad that my son and I went to see this in the theatre, I know for some it is a waste of time, but we had a lot of fun with this and we are pumped for the new season that is coming soon. I just think that this upcoming arc may not be as exciting as what we had previously and while I enjoyed watching this in the theatre, I do think that last years, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village was a better “movie”. If you are a fan of the show, I would say making the effort to watch this in the theatre is worth it.
