The Film Review
The film continues from where it left off as we get to see how Dominic Toretto (Dom), Brian O’Conner, along with the rest of their team settle into their lives after defeating Owen Shaw and his accomplices. Meanwhile, Deckard Shaw, Owen Shaw’s older brother, visits the hospital where his brother is being held and vows to avenge him.
Shaw extracts Dom and the rest of the team’s information after which he plants a bomb at Luke Hobbs’ office, injuring Hobbs severely. Dom visits Hobbs and it is revealed that Shaw is a rogue special forces assassin who aims to take revenge for what the Furious team did to his brother. Shaw also sends a bomb to Tokyo disguised as a package which consequently kills Han, another member of Dom’s team.
At Han’s funeral, the team encounters Shaw but he manages to escape. The team then meets Mr. Nobody who makes a deal to help them catch Shaw in exchange for recovering a tracking software chip called God’s Eye, along with its creator Ramsey, from a mercenary named Mose Jakande. Dom and the rest manage to acquire God’s Eye after which they travel to Abu Dhabi to capture Shaw however, they are ambushed by Jakande’s men, leaving Mr. Nobody severely injured.
At the same time, Hobbs leaves the hospital in order to join up with the rest of the crew where he destroys Jakande’s drone with an ambulance car. Dom and Shaw then engage in a battle where Jakende also intervenes, consequently killing Shaw when part of the parking garage collapses on him.
Hobbs then shoots a bag of grenades inside Jakende’s helicopter, destroying it and killing Jakende as a result. The film ends as Dom and Brian drive parallel to each other at a crossroad as they bid farewell to each other.
The Production of the Movie
Amongst all the other editions, Furious 7 was the most emotional film to be released. The film in its entirety was a tribute to Paul Walker who had tragically died in a car crash on 30th November 2013 when the filming had still not been completed. Due to this unfortunate event, Weta Digital visual effects supervisor Peter Jackson was hired in order to recreate and completely digitalize the character of Paul Walker.
Over 300 VFX shots were taken out of which, approximately 260 were used to design Walker’s computer-generated face. The final reel showed Walker’s face superimposed on the body of his brother.
The Music in Fast 7
The film’s main score was composed by Brian Tyler. The album, consisting of 28 songs in total, was released on 31st March 2015. The album score was dedicated to the memory of Paul Walker.
Furious 7. The Bottom Line
Overall, Furious 7 was a film which hit all its viewers on a very personal level. The tragic event that occurred before its release was one which brought everyone to tears. The film managed to gross over a whopping $1.5 billion on the box office.
