Guardians of the Galaxy Review
Guardians of the Galaxy was a film which was special in its own uniqueness. The film featured approximately 2750 visual effect shots which made up 90% of the film. The main companies mainly involved in the process were Moving Picture Company (MPC), Framestore, Luma Pictures, Method Studios, and Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Each company was made to work on different aspects of the film. MPC mainly worked on creating Groot, the planet Morag, Ronan’s ship the Dark Ester, and the final battle at Xander whereas Framestore worked to create Rocket. Luma Pictures, who worked on creating Thanos, explained how they used animation to completely recreate Josh Brolin as a CG character just by using his eyes and cheeks. The animators further explained how they had to plan and synchronize Brolin’s movements to the CG created version of Thanos.
The Music
Moving on to the main theme song, director James Gunn announced that Tyler Bates would be composing the main score. Gunn explained how he wanted the theme song to emulate the music from the 1960’s and 70’s. Consequently, the film’s score was released on 29th July 2014 including three other albums.
Overall, Guardians of the Galaxy is a brilliantly directed film that featured all the ingredients to make it a huge success. Due to its mind-boggling visual effects and intense plot, the film was eventually followed up by a sequel (released in 2017). The third part is scheduled for 2020. The cast is talented, the scenes are intense, which makes the movie extremely entertaining to watch altogether.
