I never saw Indecent Proposal when it came out in 1993, I was a teenager at the time and had no interest in it, but I do remember it being a pretty big deal. For some reason, probably because Demi Moore is in them both, I always get this and Disclosure confused. After watching Indecent Proposal, I can now say the difference is that I like Disclosure and I really do not like Indecent Proposal.

The Movie Review
Perhaps I needed to see this back when it came out to appreciate it. I am not even sure what I would classify this movie as! A drama, a thriller, a snooze fest? The thing is, Indecent Proposal has an amazing cast, Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, and Robert Redford are the lead performers here.
However, the supporting cast is incredible. Billy Bob Thorton, Oliver Platt, Rip Taylor, and Billy Connolly are here in supporting roles. There is not actually anything wrong with the acting in Indecent Proposal, I just feel that the script and story are super weak and I am not sure who I was supposed to actually like or care about.
The movie is about a young married couple called Diana and David, played by Moore and Harrelson. They are trying to have it all, but they end up in a bad situation and head to Vegas to try and win the money that they need to make sure the house they are developing does not get foreclosed.
The Plot’s Turning Point
It is in Vegas where their lives are changed forever. Diana catches the eye of billionaire, John Gage (played by Robert Redford) and he makes her and David an offer of 1 million dollars to have a night with Diana. I have seen this parodied in movies before and I have to say that I find the various parodies I have seen more entertaining. The premise is certainly very exciting, but the execution kind of sucks.
They take the offer and of course, it ruins their relationship. The thing is, I did not actually care about the relationship David and Diana have or their money troubles. I like both these actors, but I do not like these characters at all. I am not sure how this will make me sound, but I straight-up did not like Diana at all. Granted, David pushed her into it more than she wanted, but she was still up for it.
The Character Dynamics
Then we have John Gage. I am not sure what it was like then, but these days, when you watch this how creepy is John Gage? Robert Redford is a super smooth and handsome dude, but come on! He has such creepy vibes here that I cannot get into him at all, a super slimy rich dude who thinks he can just buy and use people. I get they tried to make it so he “loved her” but that did not fly with me.
Final Thoughts
I really did not like Indecent Proposal. I was sure that I would like this, due to the fantastic cast it had, but this did not click with me at all. At least with something like Disclosure (which I actually like) it is a “sexy movie”, this one, though, is just not a fun, sexy, or even good time.
