Iron Man’s main story revolves around a billionaire philanthropist named Tony Stark who, after demonstrating his company’s new missile, Jericho, becomes kidnapped by a terrorist group in Afghanistan called the Ten Rings. The leader of the group, Raza, offers Stark freedom in exchange for building a Jericho missile for them but Stark refuses. Meanwhile, with the help of another captive named Yinsen, Stark secretly builds a suit of armor powered by an arc reactor which becomes the means for him to escape.
Stark returns and announces that his company will no longer produce weaponry. Obadiah Stane, his father’s long-time partner, warns him of the financial consequences that can occur to Stark industries. Stark secretly begins working on a more powerful version of the suit which he built in the desert whereas it is soon revealed that Stane was the one supplying weapons directly to Ten Rings and is also attempting to take over Stark industries by staging a coup against Stark.
Stark perfects his suit but is only able to power it up to a limited extent after Stane steals his arc reactor. S.H.I.E.L.D agents come forward and try to arrest Stane but prove to be no match for him due to his plagiarized suit. Stark moves and encounters Stane and an intense battle takes place between the two before Stane is killed after his arc reactor explodes due to an electric surge. The film ends as Stark comes forward and reveals that he, in fact, is the man behind the red suit of armor, known as Iron Man.
Iron Man Review
Iron Man was the beginning of all things that lead to the formation of Avengers. It also marked Robert Downey Jr’s debut as one of the most iconic heroes that all know and love, Iron Man. Talking about the work done behind the scenes, approximately 1000 effects shots were taken in the film majorly by companies consisting of Stan Winston, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), The Orphanage, and The Embassy Vancouver. Each of these companies played a part in making the film what it is today.
Where Stan Winston was responsible for designing and animating the initial suit at the cave scene, ILM continued by contributing to the second and third Iron Man suits. The companies worked together in order to form some very realistic aerial scenes including one where Iron Man goes out to fly throughout the city.
The original Iron Man soundtrack was composed by Ramin Djawadi. Djawadi himself had claimed that he was personally a fan of Iron Man in the comic books ever since his childhood. The score was released on 29th April 2008.
Iron Man became the first puzzle piece in what turned out to be a huge picture. The film went on to earn over $585 million on the box office, paving the way for the formation of the Avengers.
